Any Boston, Ma Gastric Sleevers Out There?

Recommended Posts

Hello Lindsay,

Had my surgery Tuesday with Dr Gee. I was her first patient. It went well. I am currently in my hospital room waiting to check. 2 nights in the hospital sucks but that's what it takes. I couldn't get any sleep. I feel pretty good right now. I did question myself yesterday because I was sick of the I V fluids at night. They made me go the bathroom every15-20 minutes so I couldn't sleep.< /p>

Dr Gee and her team did an amazing job. You're in good hands.

Good luck next Tuesday.

Brian.

So basically my surgeon told me I was fat and have done nothing to lose the weight and really does not have a good bedside manner. I tried explaining to him that I've been on weight watchers and have lost some weight but the problem I'm having is I am not eating enough calories because there's not enough food so my body is storing which is bad and he basically laughed at me..... He informed me that it is required that I lose 20 pounds before my surgery... They did not have my surgery date yet but we are hoping for March the problem with that is my insurance does not allow my BMI to fall below 40 and by losing the 20 pounds my BMI will be below 40....

I had surgery last September and picked Dr. Brams and i didn't find him to have horrible bedside manner. When i met him I had only lost 10 lbs and he said he wanted another 15 by the surgery date. The thing is they make you do a two week liquid diet before and you will lose most of the rest of the weight then but they dont weight you at all to even know if you lost the weight he wanted you to lose (i ended up losing 14 of the 15 he wanted).

On the day of the surgery he met with me a few times while i was being prep'd and he was polite and direct which I like. I didn't make excuses with him as i just wanted to know the facts which is what i got. The surgery went great as hes a great surgeon. You will only meet him that one time, the day of surgery and the day after when he follows up with you. The after appts you meet with Pam and the NUT and after the first week you meet with his fellow who sits in on the surgery (Lahey is a huge teaching hospital). My experience with Lahey was great so I hope you dont let your meeting with him deter you! Good luck!

Hello everyone,

I'm from Medford and got sleeved 1/15/13. Pre-Op weight was 280 and my weight at time of surgery was 265 ,current weight is 237. Surgery was done at the MGH by Dr Denise Gee who has performed 100's of these. No complications but it did take a long time to work my way through the process. 12-16 months but it was worth it. They stressed slow but steady and the education/support piece was what they stessed the most because anyone can have surgery but learning how to live with it is a whole different way of living your life.

My process has been the same length of time because of addiction aspects.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
