Congratulations!

My husband and I are planning to adopt as well. How was the process for you, if you don't mind the question?

Congratulations!

My husband and I are planning to adopt as well. How was the process for you, if you don't mind the question?

I don't mind at all. My husband and I came to the decision last July after it looked like I'd need another surgery to conceive. We began the homestudy process in late August (I was ready to begin sooner, but our agency's social worker could not fit us in until then). The homestudy was finished the end of October and we were matched with an expectant mother around the same time. I had the opportunity to visit with her in late December (she lives a few states away) and then went down to stay a week before Lucy was born. We have a very open adoption, which might not be for everyone, and I was in the delivery room and the first person (after the nurse) to hold our daughter. I stayed in the hospital and we all went back to the condo we were renting after two nights. We cleared ICPC in about 3 weeks (a little long and I was really ready to get home).

If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me at deedeeswann@me.com.

Good luck!!!! It is so worth it:-)

Great to "hear" from you DeeDee.

You were DEFINITELY one of my inspirations on this board. Im glad to see that you are HAPPY!

I think HAPPY is way more important than the number on the scale.< /p>

Congrats on little Lucy...she is a DOLL!

I hope at the end I look as great as you do! I started out at 230 and hope to get down to 140...because I am short 5'1".

I am an adoptive mother also. Adopted a princess from Guatemala :). She was 2 months when we signed papers and got to see her....but did not get to come home to us util age 1. She is 4 now and diva of the household :) ! Have one bio son 20 and then years of infertility (and fertility meds pack on pounds which I think did not help matters any). If I had known how great adoption was I would have done that first!!!

In case anyone is thinking of adopting - YES it is just like when they hand you your own bio child. When they put them in your arms you fall in LOVE! Wish I were a few years younger (45) and had money laying around and I would do it again in a HEARTBEAT!

Congrats on your beautiful life! :)

Thanks for posting.....alot of us newbys wonder about 2 years out etc.....

Forgot to add..............YOUR BABY IS GEORGEOUS!!! ;) POST AS MANY PICS AS YOU WANT....I AM ENJOYING THEM!

I have an adopted son and a biological son, they are both now young adults. I should tell you that there ARE some differences. A person who is adopted may have some issues to work out, in our case it showed up in the teen years. Anyway, not too long ago my 22 yo son gave me a big hug and thanked me for adopting him as he is happy with his life. I think adoption is absolutely wonderful, and I feel blessed he is my son, but it does have it's challenges as well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
