H.Pylori test required???

Recommended Posts

I have Aetna. I have read Clinical Policy Bulletin #0157. I haven't seen that they require an H.Pylori breath test. However, my surgeon is. His office manager, Tina (his SISTER btw) said that the insurance is only waiting for this test to approve me for the surgery. At this point I do feel the office is only trying to squeeze more money out of me. I feel I have been lied to on at least two occasions and they charge my 4x's the copay for office visits. I really don't feel like starting over with another physician. Since it's only one exam I think I should do it and get it over with. Once I get my surgery done I can relax a bit. I'm really sick of this doctor's office (and his damn sister, Tina).

There are many types of Aetna. Even though I have AETNA that was not required for me. I do know that it is a requirement of Tricare. Tricare is one of the few insurance companies that require this test. H. Pylori is the bacteria that is responsible or ulcers. From what I have read, it is not unusual to have it and remain asymptomatic.

Did you have an upper endoscopy done?? If so, they should have taken a tissue sample of your stomach and tested it for the bacteria then. That is the most effective way to see if you are positive for it.

I had the blood test done and it was negative. I had the tissue sample done and it was positive. WEIRD!!

I have blue shield and they approved me already without it, but my surgeon requires this test in his office. they arent getting anymore money out of me for doing it, its just something they have everyone do. i went through bariatric solutions and i love them. they have been so wonderful through this whole process. i just found out i have no copay for the surgery at all!!! if i would have known this before i would have done the sleeve years ago! good luck and i hope you get your date soon!

I have Aetna and I had to have it done. They told me it was a requirement for insurance along with an EKG.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
