TMI for some...but how do you smell?

Recommended Posts

Thank you for asking this question! I'm glad it's not just me. I can smell everything more than I used to and it seems like I smell funny all the time. Not just there, but everywhere. I shower daily, but I feel like I should start showering twice a day. I'm not used to this!

I haven't really had any of this. My sense of smell is not changed at all. I've only tasted a couple of things that tasted different/bad (mostly sweet things). I haven't had a different body odor, fuzzy tongue or really bad breath. I have noticed that sometimes my urine smells different, even though it's pretty clear (I drink 2-3 l of Water a day).

ETA: Something super weird is that since surgery, I can neither hear nor feel myself pee. It's totally silent. WTF is that about? :D If I change my posture a bit, I can make it make some noise, but if I don't, I can't really tell when I'm done unless I look. Seriously, wtf. :D

Probably because the pressure is less, just a guess[

I only notice the smell thing with my pee. It is usually clear, but it really stinks to me. I usually only think it stinks when I eat aspargus, but I started noticing it was stinky abut 3 weeks out. I am 13 weeks out tomorrow.

I also have the teenager acne breakouts around TOM. It is really annoying as I have NEVER had this problem!! I have started getting facials latley to help manage the breakouts.

Kelly :(

Thanks for the comment about your period. I am getting my first post-op period and it appears to be very old blood also. Glad it's not just me!

Wow! Great question! I thought it was just me. Texasmom, I've had the same problem and it seems to come and go. But when it's here, it's not good! Also, my periods are really weird now. They come on time but it looks like old blood. It's so weird and nasty. Does anyone else have this problem? It's embarrassing to even mention but hey, this is a pretty personal conversation after all.

My urine was smelling really strong the first few weeks also, but the smell seems to have lessened. Could it possibly be from the increased sense of smell after the surgery, or is it from the body adjusting?

I was sleeved on 3/12/12. My breath was kicking so bad. I'd brush my teeth and within minutes it would reek again. I asked my doc at my two week post op appt and he told me it was normal. He said that it was all the Protein I was drinking that was the getting rid of the "fat". He told me that it could even affect body odor. For me it was just my bad breath. I'm 7wks post op and don't have that problem anymore.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
