Good info! Muscle loss and weight loss

This video was made with bypass patients in mind but I think it is really good info for ANY WLS, and even b4 WLS. It discusses the prevention of muscle loss in WLS patients. I found it to be very informative, hopefully someone else will too!

I think I might just have to go out and get some Creatine...

I know, right? I had never hear of it until today. There is another one mentioned in another video.... seratin or something like that.... you can watch the vid for for yourself if you would want to know what it is... just follow the link.

Hnmmn so why aren't we all taking creatine? Sounds almost too good to be true. Sigh .. might have to do a test run and see if it makes that much difference.

You find it in body builders formulas....

I just ordered some from Netrition.com (they charge $4.95 for shipping no mater how much you buy, so I stock up on other stuff at the same time... good selection of low carb stuff...)

The 3 things he said were creatine, whey protein (we all know about that) and glutamine. He talked mostly about creatine. He didn't say much about glutamine. Glutamine is an amino acid and therefore some should be in the whey protein in all those protein shakes I am trying to get down.

I wonder if you can get this creatine at any drug store? Anyone know, or do you have to purchase it online??

Thanks in advance for your response?

either in that video or another one he said you can get them a "walmart, GNC or amazon" so I am pretty sure it would be at walgreens or CVS or the like.

I listened to quite a few of his videos, and he does change his advice from the earlier ones to the later ones. I quoted a new study that says the milk is just as good as whey to keep muscle mass... (of course milk has more carbs...) He also is talking more about NOT taking some Vitamins in his later videos.

I bought creatine and added some to a drink tonight.... Errg... ok I can get it down but just barely.

sad.gif I bought powder too... hope its not toooo bad...

I believe creatine is a component in my protein shake powders that I get from GNC, will have to check. I cannot open the video, what does it say?

I drink the Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 shakes from GNC (tastes great!) and they have both creatine and glutamine and are whey based.

Creatine helps the body to build muscle, but also improves the brain function. He sited studies done in elder care homes 5 gms a day was the dose. He has a channel on Yotube.

Basically it talks about how the body is reluctant to burn fat so it will burn muscle instead. we want our body to be anabolic (muscle building) instead of catabolic (muscle burning). He recommends exercise and creatine, glutamine and whey protein to help signal the body to be anabolic. It talks about how they gave it to muscle builder and it helped them, then elderly and it helped them as well so they gave it to elderly to improve brain function and it helped, then they gave it to mice and gave them a stroke and it decreased the size of the stoke, so they gave it to mice in general and it increased their life span by I think it was 10%. That is ALOT of benefits from just a few supplements that we either could be taking or may already be taking (like in some protein drinks). I found it to be quite impressive!
