Unexpected Surprise During Clothes Shopping!

Recommended Posts

I originally posted this under the wrong forum so sorry if you see this posted twice. I went shopping for a new pair of jeans yesterday since mine needed to to washed after every wear to keep it shrinked down. I was still wearing the 22-24s since preop. I went to Lane Bryant and put on a 20 and it was loose! So I freaked out and grabbed an 18 and it went on perfectly! I'm still doing a happy dance. I get that Lane Bryant's 18 is probably way bigger than any other brand's 18, but it still feels really good!

I know that feeling. Feels SOOOOOOOOO good. Congrats! You'll be dropping sizes faster than you can even imagine. Good for you. :) . . . also consider thrift stores, salvation army, etc. I NEVER went to thrift stores prior to surgery but now I go practically EVERY week. You find good deals on jeans/pants/etc. Not so bad to spend 10 bucks on 2 pairs of jeans that you'll only wear for a month or two. Save your money for your shopping spree once the weight stops. :)

Congrats!!! Whoohoooo!!! You're rocking your sleeve girl! Only suggestion from me would be that just live it and love it! Don't find reasons on why it shouldn't be thought of in a positive light. You fitted in 18's... nuff said. ;)

Also, I agree 100% with Patrice. I LOVE the thrift stores. It quite literally has saved me hundreds of dollars in the past year. I even find clothes with the tags still attached. Can't beat that!!!

LOL!! that is funny about the clothes being from you!!

Great!! I agree that you will will be flying thru the sizes faster than you can keep up!! I just bought new jeans $8 at Kohls clearance rack 2 weeks ago. I have them on today and have to pull them up everytime I walk!! SO annoying, but so gratifying at the same time!!

CONGRATS!!

CONGRATS!! You've inspired me. I'm going shopping tomorrow. My pants, size 22, are so baggie on me - I'm constantly pulling them up!! I'm not sure I'll have the same luck you did, but I'll be happy if the 20s fit. (I'll come back and post it if I actually get into an 18, but I'm not banking on it. But man, what a good feeling for you!!!! Won't be long for me :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
