Surgery today

I'm here at the hospital all checked in. Waiting now to be called back. I'm still doing good. But I'm afraid when I go back that is when I will freak out. LOL

Hubby will update here after surgery.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Glad you are feeling better Leslie. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I hop your pain goes away soon. I was sleeved at 730 at the same day and had pretyy significant pain since I woke uo. Today is much better and I will be fore you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Sending you a big HUG from another Texas Gal!!! You will come out of surgery just fine!!! Remember to walk - walk - sip - sip!!! Take care and keep us posted!

I'm home. Thank you so much everyone for the support and well wishes.

Leslie, glad to hear you are doing well also.

Although I expected the pain, I just didn't bounc back like I've done in the past from major surgerys. I guess age has something to with that, or I'm becoming a wuss. LOL Don't worry, I'm taking my pain meds...they are my friend. Got a shower this morning so I felt better just from that.

Took some pain meds, and getting sleepy now. Once I can think better I will tell you all how it went for me.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh Robin, so glad to hear everything went well for you too! I just had my first shower postop and I feel a ton better. I can't wait to compare stories with my Sleeve Sister!

Marilynn

So glad you are home and are doing good. Stay on top of your pain meds and you should do good. You're on the losers bench! :) YaY!

Well I'm finally awake more than I've been the past couple of days.

Everything went as planned at the hospital. The doc and staff were wonderful. I was having alot of pain and nausea, but today I have not had to take anything for nausea....Thank goodness. I"m going to try and just use the liquid Tylenol tomorrow, so I'm not asleep so much.

I love my tummy binder....it holds in my fat and makes it easier to move. so if you don't have one, get one. My doc gives everyone one.

Oh and your taste does change. Everything is so much sweeter, or stronger tasting to me. So far today I've had about 16 oz of Water, about 4 oz of cream of chicken Soup, and work on a chocolate shake now. I'm so scared of drinking to much and making it hurt.

I've been able to take my normal meds without any problems. My Vitamins, Calcium, and b-12 came in todays mail. Doc said not to worry about them this week, maybe try taking them next week. I got mine from Celebrate.

I can't wait to go read everyone else's story on their surgery's this week.

Hi Robin!

I am so glad to hear you are doing well!

My experience was very similar to yours. During the last few days before surgery though, I was a nervous wreck. I had terrible heartburn from my broths and protein shakes. I was terribly nauseous but think it was just from nerves. I got to the hospital about 6:30 am and had met with my doctor right on schedule at 8:30.

They woke me up at about 11 and said everything went great. I stayed in recovery until about noon and then was moved to a really nice room in ICU. I did my first walk around the ward about 2:30 and they had me up every hour after that. I had the most excellent care while I was there, I was very comfortable except for feeling tethered to the machines. I was in the chair most of the afternoon until 8:30 at night when I did a walk and then got into the bed. The overnight nurse was tough, she got me up every two hours to walk and by 5 am I gave up on sleep and asked to sit in the chair. By 9 am I was done with the morphine pump and was actually pretty comfortable. I had the barium test, about that time and after the results came in I got to meet the nutritionist and she came with lunch. :) I got two ounces each of diluted apple juice, broth and diluted jello. I was easily able to tolerate them and I was really surprised especially since my stomach was so upset the days before surgery. I was released about 6 pm too and definitely felt better being home.

I have been having a sampling of the full liquids that I am allowed and so far *knocks wood* I haven't had a bad reaction to anything. I am being very careful to keep my amounts small.

I'd say the pain level is a little high when I get up or down but other than that, I am okay. We are planning to go out somewhere today so I can get some walking in. I have the liquid Lortab to take for pain and I have used in several times but not all the time. What's funny, I think I get whiny or grumpy when I start to hurt because then my husband will start with the questions and I'll inevitably take the medication and lay down for a bit.

One thing I am dying to know and if no one else has this experience, I'll call the nurse and ask.... this is kind of embarrassing, but my stomach has been terribly loud! Sounds like a horrible Texas thunderstorm all the time in my belly! I have had very little gas pass (I've been trying) and no bowel movements (also been trying) so I'm hoping the noisy belly is just because of that. Do you have that??

take care,

Marilynn

Marilynn, our storys do sound about the same. I didn't have any gas pains either. I do burp here and there and "toot" a little, but no pain. LOL

I do get the loud tummy noises too. I think its saying..." feed me" LOL I drink more water than anything else. I'm not stressing over the protein shakes right now. I'm having my first one for the day now. It seems to be going down better today.

I also have not had a bowl movement yet. But I'm not too worried just yet about it.

Hubby went back to work today, so I'm alone. I just want to stay in bed and sleep, but I know I can't.

Glad you are doing well. In a couple of weeks this will be all in the past. I can't wait.
