I can't believe the energy y'all have

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on June 24th and still can't take a shower without feeling exhausted much less walk a mile or two. Of course I did almost die from internal bleeding but still I am amazed at what some of you can do soon after surgery. I hope to start some soft foods after my dr visit thur and maybe that will give me the energy. I have yet to finish a shake, usually just 3 or 4 sips is all I can gag down so I know I'm not getting the Protein but I am getting the fluids in. I'm proud of you girls and guys that have the energy to get on with living hopefully I will be there soon too.

I was sleeved on the 24th too! I am sorry to hear about your complications - Scary! I don't think I could walk 2 miles yet, but I do have to say each day is getting better and better! The drinking/eating is getting easier and I feel like I can finally do some normal things.

Lyndyjo, I had bleeding as well, and it is going to add some time to your recovery. I am just now getting a little energy! I made a trip to the grocery store last Friday...I felt OK and thought that walking around with a grocery cart would help me get some excercise...it was OK but by the time I got to checkout I was out of breath and felt like I tried to do too much. I bet in about two weeks you will feel like a new person...I am still severely anemic from the amount of blood I lost and from my body adjusting to the transfusions...give yourself time, be gentle with yourself. I wish you the best and I hope you will keep us updated.quote name='lyndynojo' timestamp='1309886047' post='174379']

Thank you so much for your replies. I am still anemic also though I didn't get any blood. I know that part of my problem is my calorie intake. If I can't have what I want to eat I would just as soon do without, I have always been that way. And I have never liked the after taste of sugarfree. I will keep you in my prayers Lolasmom for a quick recovery. When was ur surgery?

I was sleeved on 5/23/11 and I had my emergency surgery for the bleeding on 6/1/11. I'm six weeks out today and I feel pretty good, but I felt really horrible for about a month. It just takes time.

That was me too!! I would take a shower and wash my hair and have to sleep for 3 hours! LOL

I didn't have bleeding from surgery, but did become anemic from surgery tho. The reason was I had finished my peroid 2 days before (and I am a heavy bleeder), 3 days after surgery, I started again!! YAY ME! I bled for another week!

I was so pale and exhausted. I felt awful. I went to my primary care dr. and he took some more of my blood LOL and told me that I was severly anemic. Gave me some Iron pills to take and in 2 days, I was feeling so much better. I am taking 325 mg of Ferruous Gluconate twice a day and what a difference it makes!! Get you some, with the advice of your dr. of course! I also take 2 of the BA Iron chews at bedtime.

You will also feel better when you can eat more. That helps too! I am 8 weeks out now and can go all day!

Good luck. You will feel better in time!

Kelly ;)

I bought the shots and they are beyond disgusting. If I could chug them I might could get one down but a sip at a time, never. Lol. Hopefully I can start on baked fish and such after my dr appt thur, at least that is what my nutrition booklet they gave me says then I think it will all get a little better.

Don't worry - this is completely normal for some. I honestly didn't feel up to much at all until about 3 to 4 weeks after surgery. I was honestly expecting to be up and running about after a couple of days from all the "surgery is a breeze" stories I read about the internet!

I talked to someone at my surgery group and he admitted he also had 'kitten strength' for weeks after. I'm sure it'll all start to click as you start to get better over the next week or so. :)

It took me about 6 weeks to get normal energy, and I had no complications but yo-yo-ing blood pressure. One day my energy just came back. I know REAL food helped. Just be good to yourself and push the liquids and you'll be there in no time. Mine literally was sudden: one morning I simply felt great!

Don't worry sweetie, everyone is different and you did have a complication. Don't push yourself, just keep your liquids and Protein up as much as possible, get your Vitamins in if you can and allow your body the time it needs. It takes a while for everyone to adjust to their new way of eating and getting energy back. You'll get there on your own time!

:)

Thank you all so much. Just knowing I'm not alone helps so much. Also hearing that it is normal to feel this way after all of the easy recoveries you hear about. I still can't believe I really did this. Lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
