I have pretty much decided to just do my own nails a very pale color. I will not mind it if they take off the polish when I do it myself but would have been sad if I payed for a mani/pedi and they removed the polish! So funny the little things us girls worry about!

My surgery is coming up Tuesday. I planned to get a mani/pedi Monday so all looks beautiful at the hospital. A friend told me that you are not allowed to wear polish during surgery. My surgeon did not mention this. Was that true for any of you?? Would be seriously pi$ed if I spent money for the mani/pedi and they took off the polish at the hospital LOL!

My surgeon also said no nail polish, even on my toes! So.... I went and got both a manicure and a pedicure and had them done "French". Nobody said a thing to me at the hospital, and nobody made me take the polish off. My nails are something I take pride in, and I was not about to go to the hospital without anything on them. The reason is that they put a pulse oximetry device on your finger during the surgery to measure the amount of oxygen in your blood (to be sure you are getting enough oxygen!) and it doesn't read as well through colored nail polish. But clear shouldn't interfer with the pulse ox. Take care. Hope your surgery goes well. I am 4 days post op, and finally feeling better. I was pretty sore for the first couple of days, but today I feel good.

Wow, I would of flipped out if I had to take my acrylics off. I can't function without them, you might as well cut my fingers off. I had my nails and toes done right before I went in just incase I wasn't able to get them done afterwards. No one said anything to me about nail polish. Guess every Dr and hospital is different.

They need to see the REAL color under your nail bed to check on your circulation. It is for your protection and health. It is a really simple thing, you can always get that one nail done after the surgery. When have surgery you want to do everything you can to make sure that the team of doctors and nurses can take the best care they can of you. So take the nail polish off.

Lol, I understand the stress. I hate having naked nails, but it won't last long. I have to say all the Protein in my diet is making for really strong nails though.

wow...i was checking out your requirments and we are on a very similar path, i should be having my date early sept also! good luck with everything!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
