Day 6: Still on Clears, but no Pain Med!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

It's Day Six of me and the sleeve. Things are still "loose" even though I am drinking only Water and powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Protein. The amazing thing is I feel pretty good except for the gas and diarrhea. Instead of liquid pain med, I took two tylenol today at 9 and I'm comfortable. A little tightness on my right side, but nothing I can't live with. Keep in mind though that it's just me and my husband, so I don't have to do a thing if I don't want to and I'm still wearing a gown because it's more comfy to not have even soft elastic around my middle.

Hello Lynda, glad you are doing alright! When do you get to go to full liquids? I love my EAS shakes and have been eating a little yogurt here and there. 10 days till soft foods, cant wait. I quit taking my pain meds the day after surgery and decided last night that enough was enough and took a dose. What a difference! I am trying to take as little as possible so that I can be totally aware of what my body is doing but my sister reminded me that your body heals faster when it is not in pain. I know what you mean about things feeling a little loose. Such a weird sensation. When I touch my belly it doesn't feel real; kind of numb. I also have a weird tugging sensation on one of my right incisions. Take care!

In this case she means diarrhea ;-P She was on full liquids but the doctor put her back on clear because of it.

I agree with your sister- pain puts your body through chemical changes that do not help healing. Good luck! I am Day 12 and it gets better and better. I have been allowed shakes since day four.

Hi all,

Yes, Meggie's right: the Dr. put me back on clears (only plain Water and the unjury chicken Protein powder) about 72 hours after surgery because I got diarrhea about 48 hours after surgery. Returning to clears has not improved the issue so far.

I made it through 6 hours with only Tylenol, but returned to the liquid pain med at the next dose. The Tylenol seemed to work at first, but as the six hours wore on, I had a noticeable ache and burn in my tummy. I had hoped to be able to go to Tylenol in case the medicine is causing the issue.

In my heart, I think my tummy is just adjusting to the new us and the diarrhea will disappear in a few days no matter what I do. But I am going to follow Dr's orders for this weekend and see what he has to say on Monday.

O Good Lord I'm dense sometimes; I blame it on the anesthesia though for now. I hope that clears quickly Lynda. I will be praying for you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
