I have a BMI of 36.67 and my insurance company has approved me for the VSG.

BMI is not the only factor for surgery. High blood pressure, sleep apnea , diabetes , all are issues that will qualify you a long with your BMI.. My BMI wasn't that high when my paperwork was sent to my insurance company but I had 2 other issues sleep apnea and high blood pressure. In fact my BMI dropped to 28 just before surgery, but that's because I went to a weight loss program and did the pre-op diet. Which my Dr was happy with as it prepared me for surgery and my new life.

Please don't try to put on weight to get your BMI up. Go back and consult with your doctor. This is still surgery and a life long commitment. Your Dr has a lot of influence with the ins., co.

Good Luck!
