Star Jones....leaving "the view"

Recommended Posts

SHe announced today that she would not return for the fall season. She was told in March or April that her contract would not be renewed. They said that people didn't trust her anymore. After the way she did with the wedding and the non-discussed weightloss. There was "different feeling" at the table. Here is the yahoo story link http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060628/ap_on_en_tv/tv_the_view_reynolds

What do you all think? I know she has been a hot topic here before and thought I would see what the opinion was here. ~Mandy

I don't like her. pre and post weight loss. I thought she was always a tacky woman. It had no baring on her weight. But I have never liked her. So I am glad, because I would watch that show if she wasn't on. I love joy. LOL

She comes across as cold and superior to me... heavy or thin... the lady within seems to lack the warmth to make a connection with anyone.

I don't watch The View but I might be more apt to now that she's gone! She has to be one of the most annoying people on television!

It seems everytime I turn it on she is there talking about how much she partied the night before and all the men that want her and how drunk she got and all that jazz. Don't get me wrong, I do the same thing, but I ain't there talking about all the eyes that were on me, all the men I danced with, all the men that want me. Not always. :) I mean how stuck up do you need to be to do that all the time and make a big deal about it on the show the next day. And who parties like that on a wednesday? LOL She just has nothing more to offer to that show.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Rosie O does filling in for Meredith. I never really like Star either....and I think the hush hush over how she lost her weight made her even less personable to me. Wonder who they will get to replace her?

Unfortunatly they are replacing Merideth (sp?) with Rosie O'Donell and I don't like her either. It would be nice if they kept, Joy , Babs, and the cute blonde that is on there. I think the 3 of them are great. I would also like to see Joy (Regis Philbins wife) on there, she is great. Or have a special guest host each week. I just don't care for Rosie or Star. ~Mandy

Excuse me! I party like that EVERY WEDNESDAY!!!!!! One of our friends is a pilot and we arrange our get-togethers around when he is in non-flight. Tonite was at Booga-Dee-Boos Burger and Brews. I had chicken wings and 4 glasses of Chardonnay..

She is so gross and full of herself. She could have at least gone out with some class and maybe had preserved some sort of decent reputation. Instead, her actions made Barbara Walters apologize for her. Bad idea. Babs against you is no good. She's like old scholo Tv royalty.

LOL This made me laugh. I know people party on wednesdays. Hell I would if i could lol My comment about her was somewhat tongue in cheek, but i still don't like her. not just because of the partying.

Time2live - thank you so much. I am working really hard. I can't wait to get the band and have some of the work done for me by my new "tool".

I just heard on the radio that she was indeed fired, and that in her contract she was not supposed to state this, but she did and Babs feels, in her words, "betrayed by Star" for stating this on the show. I have not watched the clip, but they were talking about it on the talk radio show I listen to. Yet one more example of her stuck-up-edness. She can just prance around the world full of herself for all I care, but I think they will be doing much better without her on the show.

Have ya'll noticed her in pictures lately? She poses for the camera as if she believes she is the sexiest beauty in the world.

It's sickening. I lost my desire to see her when she bitched out Joy and Meredith for taking pictures at the wedding etc. She was not nice to them, and I noticed that she was whining a lot. I wonder if she is really happy in her marriage.

Anyways I have had enough of her and she is so conceited and stuck up she doesn't fit on the show anymore.

Star...I thought she added an alternate perspective. I wish she was not so glammed up everyday...false lashed in the daytime! She looks good after losing weight. I probably will not watch now, because I hate Rosie and I think that Elizabeth is racist.

i feel the same way. i don't "like" star but i can say that she is fascinating in a train wreck kind of way. i absolutely can't stand elizabeth. i think she is worse than racist, i think she's stupid. i am not a conservative but i can see the point when a point is well made. that woman never has anything to add to the discussion but canned conservative talking points. and we know those aren't *discussion* points. anyway, i'll be sad to see her go b/c with the exception of joy babs and elizabeth are hopelessly boring.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
