bikini/two piece

Recommended Posts

I'm a tankini girl all the way. Between the scar from WLS and the stretch marks from twins, my stomach is a hot mess! I also love that the tankinis are easy to wear, when you are drinking or having fun, the potty problem always arises, and I HATE taking a wet one piece off to potty, it never seems to go back on right! ;)

Of course now that my thighs do not rub or look like boulders, I may skip the skirt bottoms and go for the regular bikini bottoms! But then there is the issue of landscaping!~!! what a dilemma we girls have!!!!

I have not worn a bikini since I was a teen. And will probably be a one piece with a wrap after I do loose to my goal. But I also refuse to wear tank tops or anything sleeveless because I hate my arms. But I say if you feel fine in it, wear it ! You will unlikely be the biggest thing there and even if you are, so what? Gon' get ur freak on!!! ;)

Hm, my 1st reply went into the ether, guess I'll try again! :-) I totally agree with BBJ: rock a bikini if you feel comfortable! It sounds like you are feeling comfortable enough to consider it, so maybe get a bikini bottom and both a tankini and bikini top so you can play it by ear while on vacation! Options are always great! Also, click the link on BBJ's post to see the amazing Ms. Helen Mirren rocking a bikini! That's one of the more inspiring things I've seen in a while :-)

I have worn a tankini with bikini bottoms all along, even when I was heavier. I am just more comfortable in a two-piece, and the skirt or shorts on the bottom just seemed to accentuate things instead of actually 'hiding' them.

Thanks for all your comments ladies... I went shopping today and had a sneaky look at the two pieces. There are loads of choices in all different shapes and sizes. If we do manage to get the money together for a hol, I will defo try some on just out of curiosity! If I am brave enough to buy and actually wear one in public I shall let you know...lol

That link with Helen Mirrem is amazing Lila... Oh to be half as toned as her!!

I could never see myself wearing a bikini. I don't think I will ever be that comfortable with my body. However, I think a tankini is good for almost any body type.

I just got one of those racing style speedos with the cross over back... It has been 40 years from the time I last wore a bikini... but you never know....I like sarongs too...funny thing is, I would rather go "suit optional" than wear a bikini...my funny brain!

Hey Kerry,

I hadn't even thought of it like that,.. and in that case it must be a NSV for me...lol!!

I was just browsing on the net looking at different options when it dawned on me that all my holiday gear is going to be way to big and that includes my swim wear.

I think I might try on a tankini and see how it feels.

Thanks ladies for your input! I was gonna ask my hubby, but unfortunately he normally says what 'he thinks' I want to hear when it comes to clothes... and it is usually the wrong thing ...lol... for example, I put a tee shirt on and I suspected it was still a little tight, especailly around the tummy area, when I asked him he said 'No love, it is just a bit short...!!' WHAT is he like. Luckily I found this amusing!!

Hi Coops!!!! Go to the store and try one on and see if you approve! If you feel comfortable in it, go for it, if you feel any way "I don't know" then don't. . . no one else will see you in the change room. . . good luck!

Hi Coops! I bought myself a one piece from next that pulls your tummy in, not that I had a chance to use it yet!

(o course I don't look like that ,yet!)

Ooh, chilo, that is so cute!! I haven't got the t*ts for the strapless bandeau, but I love the look.

I just got this one, but I have to say, things are spilling out all over the top part. It doesn't have cup size options, so I just got size 10 (top and bottom, when I should have gotten a 12 top)...which is still a bit tight on me of course lol, and I'm thinking I might have to take out the soft cups that are in there, as they just show up as outlines on my chest, like oversize nipples or something. Anyhow, it's hard to find good suits here, so I paid the outrageous shipping charges and I'm not sending it back, so I'll make it work. If all else fails, I will use the red pants and find another top to go with. Argh.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
