food portions.

hello everyone, my wife was banded on the 24th of may, and on the 20 th of june she got her first fill of 1.7 cc. my question is how big should the food portions be?we have tried a 2 eggs scrambled for breakfast as well as a banana. for lunch we have done 4 oz of taco meat and a mozarella string cheese. for supper we have tried 4 oz of baked skinless chicken with 2 tablespoons of barbacue sauce. for drinks we mainly drink water or crystal light.

also is there anything we should be doing? i really want my wife to be happy and i want to do whatever is possible to help her.

Thanks

loving husband

This is a good question. I am newly banded and have not had a fill yet. I know as a general rule, my surgeon has said our "tummies" now hold about a 1/2 cup. Also to eat protein first and take a chewable multiviamin daily. Does your wifes surgeon have any guidelines or a nutritionist or nurse you could check with? From reading here, I think everyones experience is a little different. I'm sure you will get some more detailed responses.

Hoping you have a great band journey!

I can eat 1 or 2 cups of food, depending on what it is. Some days and some meals it is about a half a cup of food. What you are giving her sounds fine.

If she wants to watch the calories a little more, she could do egg whites instead of eggs, each egg white has only 16 calories.

Anywho, other than watching her foods, and making sure not to drink while eating and right afterwords, she'll need to start exersizing if she isn't already (boo, hiss, I know). I'm not great about it, but I'm doing alot more than I used to be.

I really think it's great that you are so supportive of her!
