I went yesterday to see the nutritionist, I thought I was going on an all liquid diet, but to my relief it turned out to be an 800 cal, 75-150 g Protein diet.

sounds easy enough, I had to buy their food, so I thought this was a no brainer... well, as usual it's not.

I can't make any food combination work, I need 6 small meals a day, and in order to keep the calories under 800, the protein is only about 90 grams.

I do have "ass" flavored Protein powder isolate, vomit.gif but it has 90 calories and I'd need a scoop and a half to get to the right amount of protein, but

that puts me over the 800 calories. wacko.gif

Am I making this more difficult that I have to? it just seemed that sticking to this diet was mandatory.

So I just punched in a sample diet into Sparks people....here's what I came up with.

Breakfast 3 egg whites w/ 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

lunch 3 ounces skinless chicken breast 1 cup of salad (no dressing but you could add a small amount)

dinner 1 4oz ground turkey burger (no bun) 1/2 cup of baked potato 1 cup of green Beans

That alone is 546 calories. And 68 grams of Protein. If you add in 2 100 calorie Protein shakes that have at least 15grams of Protein each you'll catch your minimum protein without going over your daily calories. I don't know what protein source you're using but I found a ready made drink called ZOIC that is 100cal and 15 grams of protein that tastes decent.

The problem is I have to eat their food, they sold me some pre packaged food. Most everything is 15 grams of Protein, 100 to 250 calories.

Well, I can get it to 91 grams of Protein, which I suppose is good enough. But it says not to use any other food except what they gave me. I can't supplement any of my own food.

Was the food included in the total cost of your surgery or did you have to pay extra for it?

No, I had to pay extra for it, and I'm trying to (as we speak) choke down the apple cinnamon oatmeal. Dear lord, how can they ruin oatmeal?

total cost for pre and post op food, roughly $350.00 and so far nothing tastes good. lol

My doctor has me on Optifast light right now (two shakes, a Protein bar, and a dinner of lean meat and veggies). I take in between 700 and 1000 calories a day and tons of Protein.< /p>

I'll go to full Optifast two weeks before surgery - 5 shakes a day. Ask your doctor if either of these options are appropriate for you. Optifast isn't THAT bad, and the Protein Bars come in tons of flavors.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
