offically hit 50lbs down!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on March 2nd 2011 and yesterday morning I hit 50lbs down!! We celebrated by going on a nice long bike ride! I asked for a bike 2 years ago for Christmas and I got on it on Christmas to ride with our son and half way up the block it broke! I was soooo embarassed! My husband said the store just hadn't tightened everything up so we went and exchanged it but until now haven't even sat on it for fear my fat ass would break another bike!! Lol. And thanks to the sleeve I can now get on it and ride with my husband and our son! I'm so thankful for the sleeve and feel it has given me my life back!! We ended up going on 2 rides yesterday, we even stopped at a park and swung on the swings.....u know how long its been since I sat on a swing comfortably and wasn't worried about it breaking!! We swung as high as we could and I closed my eyes and let it sink it how happy I was, how happy our son was to have me participate and how happy my husband was to see me smile, a real smile! Now I still have a long way to go, but I will get there I'm sure of it now! I did have one question....I'm 6ft tall started out weighing 321 now down to 270 (today) is there anyone my height that's a woman in comparable stats because everyone on here is soooo much shorter than me lol....I mean my "ideal" weight to match up with standard BMI is between 170 TO 180......just wondering how I was doing at being such a larger build? Ok thanks for any encouragement!

Congratulations to you! I wouldn't mind being taller, but am only 5'8". Have often said that it's not that I weigh too much, I'm just too short for my weight - ha! Hope you can find a "height buddy", but either way, keep up the good work and keep savoring your successes.

Congrats! I know the feeling about the bike. I was so embarrassed to ride, I think I looked so out of proportion on that bike. I haven't started to ride again but look forward to it.

Congratulations! I too am not as tall as you so I can not answer your question. I am sure I have seen other "taller" sleevers posting on the site. Keep on working that sleeve and you will be at goal in no time.

I'm 5ft 10 with a large heavy bone structure (seriously my head is off the charts LOL!) I'm having surgery on Friday and am wondering how low to go. I mean I was always a curvy girl (now I'm just lumpyblink.gif) I was extremely active at 190lbs and think thats an Ok place for me to shoot for even though the charts say My top weight should be 178lbs. LOL

Anyway I'm interested in how you do on this adventure to see if I end up being "normal" for a larger woman. laugh.gif

OO and I just noticed that we are the same age (well I'm 5months older than youbiggrin.gif)

Hey Tiffy:

I think you're doing great! I'm 6'2" (yeah, I'm a girl, LOL) and got sleeved last Monday, 4/18. The morning of surgery I was 306.5; this morning 294.8. I'm obviously WAY behind you in time/loss, but I would be especially interested in keeping in touch, both because our ideals are much closer together (my surgeon's goal is 190-200) and because I'm really interested in sizes lost versus weight, and you and I probably started out around the same size. :-) So you can be my information source. LOL

It's nice to "meet" you, and we'll hope more tall gals give a shout out.

Meg

Congratulations on your amazing success and the joy you feel at regaining your life back!! Just think, it is only going to get better! Can't help with the stats thing as I am "height challenged" but I wish you all the best! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
