I've had 1/2 a bagel. I am fine with bread. In fact I am fine with EVERYTHING. And that's not such a good thing. I wouldn't start out trying to eat a bagel. I would try some toast first and see how you do. If you are OK with toast, try some bread, and then maybe a bagel. They are so dense and Gummy when you eat them I would be cautios.

Thanks! I'm no where near even trying Bagels yet, but was just wondering? I still have another week on full fluids, then 3 wks on soft foods. I really am going to try to stay away from bread, Pasta, rice and flour for the most part. But I figured on occasion I could have part of a bagel. I was a BIG fan of bread before. Heck! I was a big fan of anything that didn't eat me first!!

Bagels for me are the one bread item that does not work well for me at all. Most other breads are sliders for me.

The coolest thing I've found are the Thomas Bagel Thins, and I got pretty obsessed with them once I started adding breads into my food choices after I got into maintenance. My husband loves them, and toast them for a quick grilled cheese, my kiddo loves them as mini-pizzas, and they've replaced loaves of bread in our home. We actually eat the "everything flavor" which has all the seeds, flavored onion stuff, and they are the yummiest treat for me.

Yummy! Thomas is my favorite brand. I've never seen these, but then again, I wasn't looking for them either. Thanks Tiff. :D

I 2nd the 'Everything' bagels comment! Those are THE best. That is actually one of the last things I ate before my pre-op diet because I knew it would be a looooong time before I had another one! Yummy.smile.gif

I am also a huge fan of the bagel thins, especially the everything ones. I even eat them with a little Peanut Butter. I find them now my go to bread. If I get a fresh bagel, I slice the top and bottom off and throw the middle away. BTW, I toast everything.

I'm not a huge bread person, but I did have a Tim Horton's bagel with cream cheese the other day, it went down fine. I could only eat half at a time, though - which is great considering the entire sandwich is 440 calories.

I'd suggest the bagel things first.

They're easy.

Then, try the real deal!

I ate a bagel the other day and felt bad immediately after :(

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
