Road to "TWOterville"

Julie...first of all--not fair that your dad is PS. Will you be my best friend????

Secondly, I've been thinking of a goal for Christmas as well! That's when I'll go home to visit family and it'll be the first time I see them since I've had surgery. Personally, I'm leaning towards 250 as my goal. For me that will mean 40 pounds in about 4 months. Hmmm, that may be tricky but I'm gonna try!

I want to get to the 2's so badly but I am having a hard time folks. I keep eating things I shouldn't and eating too much. I ate a burger the other day bun and all, that right there told me I need a fill and bad. Now that I have gotten better about chewing it is time. It will have to be next Monday. so a week from today. I gave in and weighed myself, I know, it's bad, but I had to know if I was making any progress. And nothing! So for a fill I go, and I will just keep trying. When I fall off the wagon, I'll just pick myself up and get right back on. I will get there eventually.

OK I am being proactive here. I looked back to when the last time my weight loss was steady. That was when I was using fitday to track all my food and calories. I had what I thought was a light day today and it was nearly 1500 cal!!! :omg: So, I figure maybe my head thinking I need more combined with needing a fill has me eating just too much food. My choices aren't bad, not perfect but certainly not bad. It is the amounts. 2 cups of food at a meal instead of 1 and so on. With the choices I am making as for which foods I'd being doing awesome if I could get the amount down. So to battle my years of programming for portion sizes, I am pulling the measuring cups back out for daily use and am starting to track everything on fitday again. I WILL win this battle. Hope no one is slacking off just cause they beat me to Twoterville :)

Hang in there Molly. You're soooo close! You sound like you're thinking things through and have a new plan so you'll make it soon I promise! The ol' portion size thing is hard to fight, I know! So, get your fill and keep chugging away because we believe in you!

Very good! Let us know how your new fill feels!

I think I'm borderline on needing another small one. I almost feel like I'm just about at my "sweet spot" but I'm scared of going too far and being too tight. I'm going to pay extra attention to my eating habits while I wait for my next appointment to see if I really need a fill or if my problem is just a slip into some bad habits!!

Molly, keep going. We are all here rooting for you!!!

I have finally made it below 290---289 to be exact! For some reason, that *8* was reassurig to see on the scale. It's like the border is moving furher away and I am safely out of the 300's for good.

LapBandit, you are doing me proud. Everyone keep up the good work.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I reached twoterville last week! It's a great feeling  and this morning solidified it by the scale saying 291.6!! If I could jump up I'd yell wow, what a feeling like the Toyota commercial!

Congrats to all who have entered and good thoughts and support sent your way to those on your way!!

I am right on the border of 295-305 i keep going up and down and every time i get on there and i am under 300 i am ready to throw a party then 3 hours later i get back on and im 5 lbs more. I think i need a new scale then again I think I need to just have someone lock it away for a week so i can get rid of this scale complex i am delevoping ahhh

I've started to just weigh on Wednesdays (the day I record) and on Saturday mornings for a sneak peak. I always weigh in the same place right after I get up and go to the bathroom. I know it's hard, but maybe try not to get on the scale quite so much...you're doing awesome...it will come off

Awesome work, ladies!!

Marcy and Erics Mom-AWESOME!!!!

NatesMommy...I can "gain" 3-5 pounds just by the afternoon. It's strange how you weigh more later in the day...don't understand it. So, I never weigh myself after morning because it just drives me insane. I figure if I get roughly the same weight two mornings in a row then I take it as my true weight. Just a thought.

Keep up the good work all!

Good question, NatesMommy...

You can be gaining muscle - converting fat to muscle - and your weight might not move...so it's entirely possible I would think. If anyone knows the real answer, I'd be curious, too.

Absolutely, you can lose inches but not pounds. Muscle takes up less space on your body but weighs more than fat cells. So, if you're working out then most likely you're gaining muscle and losing fat...which is absolutely the best thing! Good job!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
