Road to "TWOterville"

Recommended Posts

Molly, we all get off track once in awhile but I believe you'll get straightened around. When it's too hot to eat a hot dinner I'll have a bowl of Kashi Lean Cereal with skim milk. It's cold and healthy...do you like Cereal? Kashi Lean is well balanced with a lot of Protein.

I'm getting close guys...I think I may be moving into the 'ville sometime this week!

OK all, time to be accountable. I did not get all my Water yesterday because I laid down for a little nap at 7 and slept till 7 this morning! But I ate a few crackers and cheese and turkey for lunch and then tuna and chicken noodle Soup for dinner. Much better fair than I have been eating :tea: and sure enough down to 314.5 :bowl: time to change my ticker.

im not far enough inside of twoterville yet to be comfortable, the border patrol is still too close on my backside!! As far as my drs goal is concerned, he says my weight will always be in twoterville but i am going to see what i can do to prove him wrong...even if i stay right inside the city limits i wont really mind cuz i will be happier and healthier than i have been in a long long time

I makes me so mad when doctors say you can't acheive something. The band is a tool and provided there aren't medical issues to keep you from losing you can continue to lose all the way down to a healthy BMI as long as you continue to make good choices and work with your band. On a happy note the scale is moving :) and i weighed several times today, i am so bad, hehe. had tuna for lunch and salad for dinner, and lots of Water. Have a great day everyone and don't ever let someone tell you that you can't achieve your goals, because you can do anything you set your mind to!!!

I'm getting so frustrated. Why can't I make it? I am so close, I keep fluctuating between 1-2 pds before I make it to Twoterville and I just can't get there. I thought summer would be the perfect time for losing weight but how is it that I'm sweating like a pig at work all day (the AC is broken) and exercising more than ever before yet not make progress??? Sorry for whining but I needed to vent!

Yay, Erin and Allison!

LapBandit, I know what you mean. I am just barely in Twoterville and seem to fluctuate between 296 and 298. Too close to the border for my comfort. I haven't been very good about getting all my Water in, but I have been working out like a fiend. Maybe I will focus more on the water and see what happens.

Good luck to us all!!!

Hey lapbandit, is it possible you are excersizing so much you are gaining muscle? Take a break, go back to your norm and see what happens ;)

I am wondering if I am having a mental block somehow. Like my head won't allow my body to acheive twoterville yet. I have never lost this much on a diet and maybe my body/head is freaking out now that i am so close to the two's and a full 50 lb loss? Tell me what y'all think, and have a great day :D

Thanks Molly. I think you may be right. I'm trying to "shake up" my body by working out differently and at different times of the day! We'll see what happens. I also think you're right...it seems like your body sometimes says to itself that it's let you loose too much weight and starts holding on again. My doctor made me promise that I won't start counting calories or "dieting" again. He said the best plan is to hold tight and try experimenting with exercise to spark up weight loss again. We'll get there...we're SOOOO close!!!

Molly,

It's ok to let your head catch up with your body. Twoterville is a big deal. Give yourself some emotional room to be ok with the change. Cut back on the scale time and just really listen to your body's signals of hunger and fullness. I bet you come over the border in no time.

You're doing great.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
