Welcome, Daisy! This forum is a great source of "real people" information. You ask a question and there always someone who has an answer. If you need to rant, cheer or need a shoulder to cry on, there is someone (or many) who will be there for you.

Hi, all. I live in Saint Clair Shores and Dr. Harriott is doing my surgery on Dec. 13th. I had my EGD today and I'm very excited to start this new chapter of my life.

I'm day three post op. the worst part of it I'd have to say was the hospital stay. I'm not going to dwell on that. I was discouraged on Tuesday but since I've been home I've gotten back to the right mind set. I met a woman an her daughter who had the bypass. They were very encouraging to talk to. The mom suggested to do water aerobics when able. It really helps pull back the skin.

Hey everyone! I've been looking for some kind of support group online and I just found this site!

For my insurance I was required to have 8 months of medical documentation and December will be month five. I've had my psych evaluation and everything else and I've been cleared for surgery at this point, and I'll be done with my documentation in March and then I will be able to schedule surgery. So at this point I'm thinking my actual surgery will be in May or June!

Up until last week I really hadn't been taking surgery seriously because I was in the mindset that it was so far away, or that it just wouldn't happen for whatever reason, or just the fact that I honestly cannot even imagine being any other size so it all seems to unbelievable to me. But since I saw my doc last it has finally hit me that this is happening, if I want it to. And I've finally decided this is what I really want and I'm now allowing myself to get excited about it.

It's just crazy to imagine. I think that's going to be the hardest thing for me; learning to let go of how I've viewed myself for the last 25 years. I've always been big, so my weight has been a part of who I am and how I deal with things for so long. But I'm excited for this new, HUGE life change. Terrified, but also excited. Haha.

Anyway, I'm happy to have found this site and be able to talk to people who are going through, or have gone through, the same thing.

Hello Michigan friends. I was sleeved on Dec 18 by Dr. Schram at Blodgett. My 2 week post surgery checkup is Jan 2. I must give props to the staff at Blodgett.

I was sleeved by Dr Schram in Zeeland. Loved the staff their too! Didn't know he goes out of GR? Best of luck to you!

Where are you having it done?

Sparrow in Lansing...they are the closest Bariatric COE and I had previously gone through them when I considered an RNY bypass a few years ago (decided malabsorption wasn't for me) and they are good people/good program. I also work in downtown Lansing so it will make follow up appointments easier etc.

Had my two week post surgery checkup. First scale I have been on since the surgery. Best news was now I'm allowed puréed foods now. Yippee. 34 pounds lost so far

DOS 12/18 482

2 wk checkup. 448
