Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I can still only eat about 1/2 of the meat of a sirloin burger, but a whole bag of microwave popcorn. I still get sick at times. Yuck!
  5. I have been offline for about a year. Need to reconnect as I am now having problems staying away from sweets, etc.

welcome back. You don't need to 'stay away from sweets, etc'. Just don't eat them.

Big conceptual difference. Behavioral management, you can do it.

You know your triggers and weak points, just be honest with yourself. There are some foods I just have to say no to even in small doses because they trigger me to overeat. I have to own and acknowledge that each and every day. It gets harder around the holiday's because there is seemingly a dessert of some sort for them all. The 2 really big holidays for sweets are coming up (Valentine & Easter). I'm preparing myself mentally now.

    Protein Powder

Body Logic, chocolate, is a new one carried by my surgeon. Has Stevia in it and I really like it at this point. I get sick of them so switch it out.

    Winter Time Hydration

Surgeon/nut. said decaf coffee can count as liquid but reg. coffee only after 64 ounces. I have a hard time getting it all in, so I don't drink reg. at all. Love to add honey do decaf chai with lowfat milk for Calcium.
  11. I'll be 68 the first part of Jan. and just had my 2 year check up. Bmi now 22, compared to 41.2. Started at 225.5 and yesterday at doctors was 122.2. I don't exercise like crazy, but still make sure I get at least 60 grams of Protein a day, and 64 ounces of Water, which includes decaf coffee. Even through stress and holidays, I have been able to maintain. I do still have Protein shakes as I still only eat such a small amount at a time. Put unjury chocolate in my coffee with some milk first to cool it down. Trying a different protein, Body Logic that my surgeon now carries because it contains Stevia instead of aspertane. (Not sure of the spelling)...All my blood-work was great, but cholesterol was a little higher. Controlling with diet rather than statin, off high blood pressure meds, and Celebrex. Osteoporosis has gotten worse though due to how my body is using the Calcium even though levels are fine. Feel so much better, and can do so much more!! You can do this!!

    Disappointed and Hiatal Hernia

My surgery was Nov, 2012 and I was 65 at the time. I had a nonfunctioning gall bladder with no bile, stones in the duct as well as a hiatal hernia. I had a trifecta!!! I had the sleeve surgery, the gall bladder removed, and the hernia repaired with scar tissue also scraped off, with just 6 incisions. I did very well, lost 106 pounds and went below my surgeons weight goal. Have my 2 year check up on Monday so I'll see how my bloodwork turned out. Good luck. Get another opinion!!
  13. Hope the surgery goes well in February!! I am so happy I had this done!! I did mine for health reasons and to get off many of my meds. I kept having more and more things going wrong with me because of my excess weight. Embarrassed to be out in public, etc. It's been two years since my surgery and I'm almost 68. I would do it again in a heart beat.
  14. I have family members not talking to me and I don't know if they are jealous or they don't have to. My mom passed away a year ago April and last year, the first xmas without her my sisters couldn't work out a time to get together. We bought a townhouse in Florida in Feb and sold our house and moved to a condo in MI the end of Oct. Have a brother that is cognitively impaired that I'm trying to get family together and one doesn't return my phone calls, texts, or emails. My husband and counselor say it is not my problem but I have always been the caretaker as I'm the oldest of 6. Trying to do away with that but old habits are hard to break, including eating when I am stressed. Now I'm losing weight and below where I want to be which can be bad, too!! Thanks for letting me vent. Holidays can be hard too in so many ways!!
  15. I have the same problem being hungry if I'm not eating enough quality Protein. I still use unjury at least once per day as I can eat so little at a time. Have my two year check up when we go back to Michigan for the holidays. Will see what my bloodwork is when I go. Don't give up!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

We sold our house in Michigan and moved to a condo in the same town the end of October. Fixed up the main level and the basement looks like a ware house with boxes and furniture. Left for Florida Nov. 1st. Will unpack more at xmas and then in the spring. My lowest was 106 pounds lost, and right now I'm at 104 pounds down. Still using protein and I tracked for two years on myfitnesspal.com. Trying now to maintain without daily tracking. Has only been a couple of days. Good luck to everyone!!
  17. Moved from a house to a condo the end of October, and then a week later came to Florida. Have been able to maintain my weight loss through all the packing, etc. See my surgeon's PA before Xmas for my 2 year check-up. Hope my blood work is ok!

    60+ sleevers please help

Now almost 2 years out. Maintaining my 5 pound leeway I gave myself. Still track my food on myfitnesspal.com daily. A couple of weeks ago, we hiked the Red Trail at Bushkill Falls, PA in the Poconos. 1267 steps and took us 2 and 1/2 hours. I wouldn't have been able to do that before my surgery. I had total knee replacement the year before my sleeve surgery, and am on no pain meds!! 67 years old now and proud to be part of this forum of awesome people. I may not post often as we are downsizing to a condo and will be moving soon. Still in the same area though.
  19. Hiked a couple of weeks ago for 2 and 1/2 hours at Bushkill Falls, PA and in the Poconos. Proud of what I was able to accomplish!! Non scale victory for me!

    Can't stop losing

I had the same problem of losing. Dr set my weight at 130, I wanted some wiggle room so wanted 125. Got down to 120.2. Nut said to add nuts, peanut butter and fruits as well as start tracking my food again. If I hit 124 I start really watching what I am eating. I am 67 now and 21 months out. Good luck to you. I still have to supplement with protein shakes and or bar to get in enough protein.
