Anyone lose more than 50lbs in this age group (over 60) ?
I'll be 68 the first part of Jan. and just had my 2 year check up. Bmi now 22, compared to 41.2. Started at 225.5 and yesterday at doctors was 122.2. I don't exercise like crazy, but still make sure I get at least 60 grams of Protein a day, and 64 ounces of Water, which includes decaf coffee. Even through stress and holidays, I have been able to maintain. I do still have Protein shakes as I still only eat such a small amount at a time. Put

Disappointed and Hiatal Hernia
My surgery was Nov, 2012 and I was 65 at the time. I had a nonfunctioning gall bladder with no bile, stones in the duct as well as a hiatal hernia. I had a trifecta!!! I had the sleeve surgery, the gall bladder removed, and the hernia repaired with scar tissue also scraped off, with just 6 incisions. I did very well, lost 106 pounds and went below my surgeons weight goal. Have my 2 year check up on Monday so I'll see how my bloodwork turned out. Good luck. Get another opinion!!

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Hope the surgery goes well in February!! I am so happy I had this done!! I did mine for health reasons and to get off many of my meds. I kept having more and more things going wrong with me because of my excess weight. Embarrassed to be out in public, etc. It's been two years since my surgery and I'm almost 68. I would do it again in a heart beat.

December will be 3 years for me... why am I suddenly so dang hungry?
I have family members not talking to me and I don't know if they are jealous or they don't have to. My mom passed away a year ago April and last year, the first xmas without her my sisters couldn't work out a time to get together. We bought a townhouse in Florida in Feb and sold our house and moved to a condo in MI the end of Oct. Have a brother that is cognitively impaired that I'm trying to get family together and one doesn't return my phone calls, texts, or emails. My husband and counselor say it is not my problem but I have always been the caretaker as I'm the oldest of 6. Trying to do away with that but old habits are hard to break, including eating when I am stressed. Now I'm losing weight and below where I want to be which can be bad, too!! Thanks for letting me vent. Holidays can be hard too in so many ways!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
We sold our house in Michigan and moved to a condo in the same town the end of October. Fixed up the main level and the basement looks like a ware house with boxes and furniture. Left for Florida Nov. 1st. Will unpack more at xmas and then in the spring. My lowest was 106 pounds lost, and right now I'm at 104 pounds down. Still using protein and I tracked for two years on myfitnesspal.com. Trying now to maintain without daily tracking. Has only been a couple of days. Good luck to everyone!!

60+ sleevers please help
Now almost 2 years out. Maintaining my 5 pound leeway I gave myself. Still track my food on myfitnesspal.com daily. A couple of weeks ago, we hiked the Red Trail at Bushkill Falls, PA in the Poconos. 1267 steps and took us 2 and 1/2 hours. I wouldn't have been able to do that before my surgery. I had total knee replacement the year before my sleeve surgery, and am on no pain meds!! 67 years old now and proud to be part of this forum of awesome people. I may not post often as we are downsizing to a condo and will be moving soon. Still in the same area though.

Can't stop losing
I had the same problem of losing. Dr set my weight at 130, I wanted some wiggle room so wanted 125. Got down to 120.2. Nut said to add nuts, peanut butter and fruits as well as start tracking my food again. If I hit 124 I start really watching what I am eating. I am 67 now and 21 months out. Good luck to you. I still have to supplement with protein shakes and or bar to get in enough protein.

Vets: Calling all consistent loggers on MFP!

Low Hemoglobin, Ferritin, and Iron 3 years out, anyone else?
Sounds like you didn't have a good experience and I feel badly! My surgeon is a member of the ASMBS, is a Center for Excellence, and teaches for Cleveland Clinic. He has been part of their study for the plication procedure. I was asked if I wanted to be part of a study with Blue Cross/Blue Shield which was optional. His is very strict in his requirements before and after surgery. I signed a contract with him that I would follow up with him, as he wants to know how we are doing. One of my daughters is a family practice doc. in his area, and had the surgery before me and she was impressed with his before and after follow-up. It was my family doctor that referred me to the osteoporosis clinic in my home town as that is their specialty. I live in Jackson MI and the bariatric surgeries are not done here at this time. I travel 2 hours to go to their follow-up classes with the nutritionists and support groups. He also repaired a hiatal hernia, and removed a non-functioning gall bladder that he found before my surgery. My experience has been wonderful and his staff are wonderful! I can order Protein and Vitamins from his office if I want. Every time I go for a checkup, they also have me fill out a form about how I am feeling about things. Don't know the name of the form though. My regular doctor asked me if I would be willing to talk one to one with people considering the surgery as he considered me as more of an expert since I had gone through it. My orthopedic doctor, also was asking me questions, as he went to Grand Rapids to have his done. He said he did lots of research, too. Glad you are asking questions.

I have to keep tracking as I eat 60 grams or more of protein a day but was still losing weight. Can't eat more than about 2 oz of meat or I am sick. Eat more nuts, fruit, add add PB2 to shakes etc. I make sure I don't go below certain points 121 or above 125. 67 and I started at 225.5. ,, 5 ft 11/2 in. Hope this helps.
