Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Oh yes, Dr. Kim formualted the Protein product he pushes on you so he gets all the profit. He must not be making enough money off of the hundreds of surgeries he does a month. It's all about the money to him. I was at the point of scheduling my surgery when they told me I had to pay a 250 deposit just to 'reserve' my surgery time. You know, to make sure people don't cancel. Who goes through all of the many steps required to have this surgery and then cancels at the last minute?!

I had my revision surgery with Dr. Kim on 1/23. My experience w/ Dr. Kim and his office since last April has been positive. Everyone always took time to explain things to me when I had questions. My surgery was at Baylor Trophy Club and I saw Dr. Kim all 3 days I was there and the facility is top notch. Had my 5 week check up yesterday and I am down 34 lbs!!! Yippee!! Just my 2 cents...btw I live in the Keller-Southlake area. :-)

Hello all dfw sleevers,

I am still in the pre- op stage. I am seeing Dr. David Kim for my surgery. I have a Nut class and stress test on March 23rd, then everything goes to insurance for approval. I'm doing 2 shakes and 1 meal a day Nd have lost 18 lbs so far. I was wondering if any knows how much we should lose before surgery. I'm concerned I haven't lost enough.

Thanks in advance for your input. :)

I am from Southwest Fort Worth! I have not had my surgery yet but I plan to go to Mexico in May to get it done. Unfortunately my insurance will not cover me in the states, but I have heard great things about many Mexican surgeons. Has anyone here gotten their surgery outside the states?

Houston here! 38 days to being sleeved. I am really surprised by the lack of Houstonians.

I'm in Houston, too. Glad to find you!

I will be a Lapband revision, but I'm not scheduled till June.

Where are you having your surgery?

Good luck and keep me posted.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
