I WAS SLEEVED FEBRUARY 2011 AND I BARELY HAVE ANY SCARS AT ALL...MY PROCEDURE WAS LAPAROSCOPIC SO I HAVE 4 SMALL INCISIONS THAT DID NOT EVEN REQUIRE EXTERNAL STITCHES. THEY WERE PRACTICALLY HEALED BEFORE I EVEN LEFT THE HOSPITAL..I WOULD SUPPOSE THE SCARRING DEPENDS ON THE TYPE SURGERY YOU HAVE.

What was the name of your surgeon?

Right behind you last requirement, nutrition assessment, on 7/31 then off too insurance for approval. I just woke up from dreaming about my surgery, does anyone else dream about this stuff? Sometimes I just gotta disconnect from all things weight loss in fear I'm gonna go insane. Can't wait to have this life saving surgery. I don't think there is anymore I can research at this point. All the best to you all in your journeys.

Hi MrzSongbird, good luck with getting your surgery date I'm sure it will be soon. I haven't had dreams about the surgery just reading everything and watching YouTube videos. I started out with only two options, the lap band and the bypass. As time went on during my second visit to nut I find out that the sleeve is covered so I start checking the info on that. I wanted the lap band in the beginning but in the end decided on the VSG. My pcp also recommend it. He said the lap band some people have problems with them. I have finished all the requirements needed. I will have surgery Sept. 25. I'm a little nervous but I know the drill. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries. Best of luck!!

Good Morning,

I'm 15 months out, and I will tell you. I did alot of research on this surgery as well as the others. I knew this would be the best one for me. When I made up my mind this was the surgery I wanted. I started researching vitmamins. I didnt experience the Hair loss, because I started taking the potent formula (5k mcg) of Biotin daily 6 to 7 months prior my surgery date which was 4/13/11. I'm extremely happy. My first vist to my bariatric surgeon I was 335. I my heaviest was 371. As of now I've come to a stall and I just cant get out of these 250's.. It's drivng me nuts!! Anyone have any eating plan suggestions???? My Bari doctor told me to get the best results I'm to only eat all Protein and no salad, and beans.. he says I need to eat more soild protein vs dense protein. The problem is I've never been a big meat eater. My weight came from the fact I'm a carb monster.. A big one!!!

I eat things like boca burger pattied, or use Protein Shakes. I use only the best ingredients. However, he states these are no good sources of protein. So I'm now a little frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas or eating plans that I can follow?? I did go grocery shopping and bought alt of protein (real meat) to try and eat.. i ove tuna so I bought plenty of that!!! Prayfully this will work!! Thanks in advance... Also thank u for this thread! happy Sunday everyone! :D

I use unflavored protein from GNC . I mix it with applesauce. I also eat weight watchers dinners with protein along with other brands. You look fabulous in your picture. Keep up the excellent work.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
