Congratulations! I have been thinking about you, Teri, and hoping things went well. I'll be right where you are 4 days from now! I start my pre op diet on Sunday, and then I'll get banded on Tuesday. Keep us posted!

Well, today is Day 4 post-op and I'm feeling better as each day goes by, I can actually lay down and get up in bed without too much pain today, yippee. Pain wasn't too bad yesterday either and I only had a couple of doses of pain meds just as a precaution. None today so far and probably won't need them. I get to add my creamy Soups, yoghurt and V-8 juice today, mmmm, the thought of them makes my mouth Water, lol. The incision sites have started to itch and that's driving me crazy, I'll be glad when Dr. H removes the staples on Wednesday and maybe that will also help relieve the pinching feeling that I get when I sit up or lie down. Well, I better go get my Protein Drink and get started getting in my liquids for today, it's not been an easy task getting in the liquids because I feel like they are just sitting in my chest after a few drinks, maybe I'm not waiting long enough between sips, don't know. Guess I'll slow down a little today and see if that helps, even though it seems like it takes forever to get any liquids down now.

Here is the e-mail reminder I just received for Mondays KCBandster Meeting. This is the one founded and supported strictly by other bandsters NOT by any specific doctors. I realize the topic this month is "Rebooting" which implies it is more for those of us that have been banded longer and are trying to get back on track but really it would be a great topic for newer bandsters as well trying to start "Reboot" their brain into their new bandster way of life.

Though to be honest the topics we come up with before the meeting are more of a guideline than a rule. If anyone comes in with a problem or question we just change gears and adapt.

I'd love to meet you KCBigGuy & Thin2bme. Hope I get to see you there.

- Diane

[KCBandsters] KCBandster Meeting Reminder for March!

From:jenn_kc <jen@runyan.net>

To:KCBandsters@yahoogroups.com

You guys have been so good at talking about the meeting coming up that

I almost forgot to post a reminder message about it! Thanks!

Our March meeting will be happening THIS Monday, March 24th at the

Antioch Library in Merriam, KS. We meet from 6:45-8:45 pm in the

meeting room at the back of the library.

I think we will continue talking about the need to "Re-Boot" our

brains and what that looks like. Whether you have been banded for

years and years or you haven't had the surgery yet, I think this will

be a great meeting. There will come a time when everyone needs to

re-charge, or to re-program our brains to continue on a successful,

healthy weight loss journey. Everyone can get stuck in a rut, or gain

a few pounds and feel unable to get motivated to take them off. One of

the long term goals of weight maintenance is early intervention. ..

When your weight creeps up a bit, or you stall out in your weight

loss, you stop, evaluate your lifestyle, and make small adjustments to

get back on the right track. When I used to ride the diet

rollercoaster before banding, I would get on the coaster (the latest

diet to try) and ride for a while (lose some weight) and then get off

the coaster and gain it all back. I wouldn't do any self checks until

I woke up and had gained most, if not all, of the weight back. Then I

would lament that "if only" I had caught the slide at 5 lbs and done

something about it, I could have easily gotten back on track... Well,

that is what I want to discuss at this month's meeting...

So, join us Monday night and let's dive in!!!

Hi Diane, thanks for the invite to the support group on Monday. I might just plan on being there, as long as I can talk my DH into bringing me. Instructions from the hospital were no driving for 1 week and my week won't be up til Wednesday. I'd love to meet you and KCBigGuy too. Keep me posted when the next one is, in case I don't make it to this one

Tell your husband he can sit in the library and read a book or even surf the internet on one of the library's computers while you are in with us if he is uncomfortable joining in on the meeting himself. But I understand if you can't make it. Hope you are still feeling well. When do those staples come out again?

My DH turned his nose up at taking me to the support group meeting tomorrow night, but he's been really good about going with me to other support group meetings @ SMMC when he was able to go. I'll let him know he can sit in the library and surf the net, maybe that will get his motivation up to take me, lol. Staples come out Wednesday, I am so ready for that now, I think most of the pain I'm feeling right now is from the staples pinching especially when I roll over in bed. I feel pretty good otherwise. I'm still having problems getting in 64 oz of liquids and I'm getting better with my Proteins. The creamy liquid stage is helping with that. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday after staples are removed, I'm going to Taco Bell for some refried Beans, yum yum!!

Great job so far, Teri. I start my liquids today, then I get banded on Tuesday. I can't believe it is really here! At what point after surgery does it get easier to get the liquids in? I'd also love to share and hear about what Protein Drinks are good and easy to take! I am starting off with trying the Isopure! I stocked up on sf popsicles after reading your post from a few days ago! I would like to try to make the meeting on Monday night, but only if my DH gets home in time to watch the kids. I would love to meet up with as many of you as I can.

Keep in touch!

Erika, if you can make it to the group tomorrow night that would be great to meet up then. I think hubby is finally consenting to taking me, lol. I also plan on going to the support group meeting Thursday night at SMMC but I'm not sure you'll be up to going to that meeting.

Ghost, at this point I plan on being there tomorrow night, can't wait to meet you too.

Great Teri Hope to see you.

Evelas - How old are your children? There is going to be at least one other 4 year old and a teenager as well. The room is pretty large and when my son comes I usually just set him in a corner with some coloring books, quiet toys, and a remote DVD player, though their is a great kids reading area in the library as well that the teen might be willing to take the younger ones over to if she comes.

Oh and on the Isopure if you haven't tried them yet I highly recommend mixing some Crystal Light into them to boost the flavor. The Grape Frost flavor isn't bad but they all taste a bit bland.

Thanks for the info, Ghost. My kids are 3,5, and 8, so that may work out. I'll try hard to make it, but if I miss this one, I'll be sure to make the next one. I did buy the grape flavored Isopure and plan on trying it tomorrow. I do have some Crystal Light that I can mix in. Thanks for the idea. One day of liquids almost done, and then just one more before surgery. I am so glad it is just 2 days! I'll keep you guys posted!

If you decide you hate it I'll buy it off you at the meeting tomorrow (or the next month). If I don't get to see you good luck on your surgery. I'll be thinking of you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
