does restriction actually start once you're on solids?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the liquids stage, and I have no problems getting in 70oz of liquid a day. I can drink 3oz immediately at once, and drink my 11oz premiere Protein Shake within 20 min easily.

When i move onto soft and then dense food/protein, will I really feel the restriction everyone keeps talking about?? Will i only be able to eat 3-4oz at a time max?

I have never felt the foamies or needed to vomit. I get an uneasy feeling in my breastbone and stop, and it goes away within a minute.

I'm just trying to figure out if what i'm feeling is normal for my stage (full liquids).

Thanks for any input!

WOW...is all I can say...I am a little under 1 week behind you and I can't even begin to drink 70 oz a day. Nor can I get down my full Protein shake (11oz) that fast. I have to sip it and I only try to drink 4 oz at a time anyway. I definitely feel restriction. I feel very full most of the time. I would like to hear some input as well...

I am one week out and im on full liquids. When I am eating I have to eat really slow and even then I get full after about 1/4 cup of pudding or yogurt. When Drinking Water I can drink a few sips at a time but then need to wait at least 5 mins before sipping again. When I drink water too fast or too much at one time I feel really bloated and icky. the max amount of water that I have been able to get in a day is about 36 ounces. I try for more but because I have to wait an hour after eating that limits my sipping time and I have been napping a lot as well! I am not dehydrated though.

I was one of those people who could drink as fast as I wanted. I had to force myself to go slow when Dr. Aceves said no more than 2 oz every 10 min. I could drink everything they brought me right down if I wanted to.

Moving to solid Protein is like night and day. Once I moved to solids, I could barely eat 4 bites.

I had surgery Dec. 10th. I remember being advised to drink slowly. I could not drink a lot in the hospital because I would get a cramping feeling at the top of my stomach. once I left and I got thirsty I had to remember that we are suppose to drink slowly. 8 ounces in an hour. It is great that you have no trouble getting your liquids goals in for the day but do practice drinking slower it will prepare you too for eating slower. Even if you have no problem when you are eating you should still eat slowly. I kind of look at the physical discomfort as a physical reminder to slow down but I dont like the feel so I try to avoid the reminder! LOL!

I also find things are happening in weird stages for me. I was drinking and eating fine and now a few days later I am getting that discomfort like the food is stuck. I have to get someone to hit my back to get it moving. So, just take it slow and see how your body responds day by day because it can change.

Be encouraged!

I am like some of the others and I can't drink that much and not that fast!! I am 5 weeks out and I still can't drink but a few sips, wait a few mins, then another few sips!

It takes me at least like 2 hours to drink my 12oz Protein drink because it's thick and it's kind of in a lump in my tummy!

For dinner I have been doing 1 oz of meat and about 2T of veggies and about 1t of a starch and just now can I actually finish all of that but it does take me 30-45 mins!

I have had a lot of restriction since the begining though but I did notice a lot more once I was eating real food!

OK, i know it's kind of silly, but I am excited to see what restriction feels like. I am on liquids right now, and I am not too restricted with this. I can drink the required 60 ounces, and I get in the required Protein, so very curious to see how it feels with solids (or I guess mushies) which is the next phase....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
