January 2011 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I'm having my surgery on 1/24/11. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm scared. Scared of the unknown. You know alot of people were once thin and became fat and have an idea of what to expect. I've been fat forever. I don't know what I might look like or how I will feel (i'm sure better) but still I am starting to get really anxious.

I'm scared about recovery will I bounce back. I know this may seem silly but just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else has had these same feelings.

I am having surgery the same day as you and I just added you as a friend. I could use a little encouragement too. It is kind of scary and it is probably pretty normal to be afraid. Still, I think we will be so much happier and live a longer, more fulfilling life because of our decision. Lets keep in touch!

Hi all! I'm joining you Jan. sleevers. I just found out this morning that I will be sleeved on Jan. 4th! I'm so excited and not nervous.... yet! I've been looking forward to this journey for years!

A little about me.... I am a 27 year old stay at home Mom and Wife. My son is 16 months old and has endless energy. I've been over 300lbs since high school. I reached my highest weight of 350 the day I had my son via c-section. I've been hovering around 320 ever since he was born. I've been heavy my whole life and I'm tired of being the biggest person in the room. I'm also really tired of breaking things like chairs and toilet seats =o( so embarrassing. I'm ready for this!

It's nice to meet you all, I'm glad we are all in the same boat together.

I have to have all my pre-op testing this week, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any ideas?

I'm getting sleeved January 5th. Doesn't seem real. Hard to visualize it. I hope it all works out. I hope I lose weight. I hope, I hope, I hope. Going to start a 10 day liquid tomorrow (for Breakfast and lunch) even though doctor told me it wasn't neccessary. I want to make sure I come out the other side strong. Class on Tuesday. Support group too. Get to meet SF David. Woo hoo

I'll be at the support group and the pre-op class tomorrow Lisa. Its a small group and I'm usually the only guy. Pre-op meal plan was doing great until Christmas eve but I'm back on it. I'm having surgery on the 6th with Dr Le. I hope you are doing great. Wow! This is really happening!!!

I am having my sleeve done on January 5th with Doctor Corvala in Tijuana. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I do have one question though was anyone else put on a pre-op diet?

I was not and I have heard you are supposed to be so I am wondering why?

Thanks

Liz

Mine is Jan. 24 in San Antonio. It's nerve-wracking to wait, I keep thinking "Maybe this is a big mistake, maybe I could back out." But then I remember How many times I tried only to regain all the weight plus more. This is the best option for me. But, oh do I miss carbs!

Hi everyone, I am penciled in for Jan 29th but I'm currently trying to hurdle the money issue. Is this i worth the money and putting my family without any safety net and some debt. I got through the other emotions now i just have to come to terms with this. Any encouraging word or words of wisdom would be helpful.

You know, I think you are right about the closer it gets, the harder it is to wrap your head around the whole thing and feeling like you're not ready. I feel like I get to that point with myself when I am comfortable about having it done, but then the closer it gets I get worried, I guess I don't realize it is real until it is about to be time. I am scheduled for Jan 27, and I think that getting through the holidays makes it feel all that closer, like a hurdle to get over, I have been saying after the holidays, but now that time is almost here.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
