I am just as worried I am not going to be prepared when I have to start my liquid diet. I am using GNC 100%whey Protein. I have also planned to get soltron chewable vitamens by gnc. they also want me to take calicum carbon so gnc also has liquid calicum to start. When I am a few months out of surgery I plan to go to pill vitamens. I hope this helps you some. I have heard from others that get gas x strips. a small pillow for your stomach there is a lot of prep ideas on this forum..good luck

For before surgery I only bought some Clear Liquids Popsicles (couldn't be red, purple, or orange), chicken and beef broth, Jello, juice (again no purple, red or orange dye), I had some Protein Shakes stuff (but was not allowed to drink it 2 days prior to surgery) and some Powerade Zero. Since I got home I have bought two different kinds of Protein trying to find one I like enough to drink 3 times a day. I haven't used any jello yet. Still hard to get in liquids so I am taking it slow. Mostly Water and protein. Sometimes I want is a taste of something else so i drink about 2 ounces of powerade. I didn't buy all kinds of stuff like some of the blogs and youtube videos where they recommend hundreds of dollars in supplies. My surgeon doesn't start Vitamins or Calcium until after my post op appointment at 2 weeks. So I just waited to buy them. I used this web site for advice and read everything my surgeons team gave me about 100 times. I know that it is overwhelming there is a ton of information out there. Good Luck to you.

Your right I don't want to break the bank getting ready for this. I am already self pay. I thin I will go to GNC and get the Vitamins and make sure my body is full of nutrients before surgery. WOW it is crazy how fast you lose the weight. 22 pounds since October. that is AWESOME.

I bought too much Protein powders, the jugs are huge. If I were to do it again I would search for more samples online. I really like the nectar mixed with a crystal light to go pack. I also found that some I liked before would get too thick after sitting as it took me forever to drink them after. I liked the cytomax tangerine. It tasted like tang. Drank one bottle a day for the first two days as it was 40 g of Protein and It took me all day to drink them. Each person has to find their own niche so experiment before surgery. Good luck.

I am allowed skim milk on my liquid diet. It has 8 grams of Protein. I mix it with Carnation Instant Breakfast for a total of 13 grams of Protein. I would also get liquid tylenol. You will need it when you ween yourself from your pain meds. And, one thing that I already had but wasn't listed in supplies was a heating pad. I had some left shoulder pain from the co2 gas. The heating pad on my shoulder felt great.

Also, there are protein companies that will sell a sample pack of protein pouches, so you don't have to invest in the big jug and hate it. I ordered a sample pack for unjury.com. They have a chicken Soup protein that I like and they also have a unflavored protein that you can mix into crystal light or eventually foods.

Hope this helps.

I was a planner too. First you need to find out what your pre op and post op diet. This will determine what you need. I was able to have milk in my Protein shakes even on clear liquids which is different from most. Also don't go overboard with the Vitamins. I spent a small fortune just to be told to take 2 flintstones and calcium citrate. I also do the sublingual B12 everyday during the healing stage to help with energy.

Main thing is to have plenty of Water, broth or boullions, sf Popsicles, sf Jello, and whatever Protein you like.

Also get some comfy pjs or lounge pants for post op. Make sure they are loose and you can wear below your belly button. I roll my adidas pants down. I also wear a sports bra because it is more comfy and the top incision is close to the bra line.

I bought liquid tylenol, haven't used yet, but good to have. Pepcid chewables, have to take twice a day, ask your dr. Miralax or milk of mag for Constipation. Apple juice helps with that also.

I used Premier Protein shakes and to get ready. You can buy them at costco for the best price. For Vitamins my doctor really pushed Bariatic advantage, but I found vitamins, Calcium, Iron and sub lingual Vitamin B12 (all chewable) for much cheaper at vitacost.com. I just compared the what is in the Bariatric Advantage vitamins to ones on vitacost and saved a alot of money. There is also a protien mix at the Vitaman Shoppe that is VERY close to bariatric advantage shakes called Myofusion. The idea is low carb, high protien. I personally like the premier shakes much better and they are in the same ingredient schedule. I had lots of sugar free Jello and pudding so supplement the shakes.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
