My surgeon was Dr. Terrence Clarke from Ellis Hospital Bariatric Center in Schenectady, NY. I have been very pleased with Dr. Clarke and the entire staff. There are three surgeons in the practice and each has a great reputation. I chose Dr. Clarke because he was the surgeon for a friend of mine in the health care profession and came highly recommended. The practice is rated as a Bariatric Center of Excellence; only about 5% of all bariatric practices have this distinction. Besides being a great surgeon, what I liked about Dr. Clarke was his effort to always make sure I knew exactly what was going on or what was going to happen, always asked me if I had any additional questions or concerns, and made a point of checking in with me pre-op and several times post-op while I was still in the hospital. I never got the impression that he was rushed although I know he is a very busy doctor. The office staff, nurses and physician's assistants at the practice are also equally caring and professional. It has been a great experience all the way around. As for the hospital itself, I had a great experience. The OR staff was great to me just before I went in for surgery. I think the care I got while in the hospital for two days after surgery was terrific. The nurses were on top of everything -- getting me up to walk, checking my vitals, making sure I wasn't in pain, etc. The hospital is under construction but I was fortunate to be in one of the newer wings which was very nice. All in all, I would more than happy recommending Dr. Clarke and Ellis Hospital to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

My surgeon is Dr. Jeff Baker. http://bakerbariatrics.com/ I had may trials and tribulations before ending up at the office of Dr. Baker. I must say I am very happy that things worked out they way they have. Dr. Baker has been nothing short of wonderful, compassionate, and, oh yeah,...a skilled surgeon! I can't say enough good things about my care so far!!!

My surgeon was Dr. James Foote of Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids, MI. My surgery was done at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Both the surgery and the hospital were absolutely top notch. I would recommend them to anyone in or near the western Michigan area.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
