Did you crave any foods, tastes after surgery?

Had surgery last week and now I want to eat scrambled eggs and spices so bad, it is driving me crazy. I keep imagining scrambled eggs with salsa or some kind of seasoning on them. I have always liked eggs, but have never craved them. Do you have any cravings?

I have "mouth hunger," shrimp tacos from Taco del Mar have been on my mind for some reason and when I think of them my mouth just waters. But unlike before when I would think of something delicious and try to eat something to compensate for it, I think about those shrimp tacos and...do nothing really. Continue to sip on my protein drinks and g2 gatorade and think to myself that I'll get one as a treat for myself once I'm on regular foods. Before I couldn't stop myself with food, I thought of something and had to get it, if I couldn't drive I'd take a taxi, now I'm like "mmm, that would be good" but I'm able to table it, not just because I'm still on full liquids and now that I physically can't and shouldn't eat them but because I don't have that same drive for them.

I was told not to eat bread because it will hurt way too bad. But does that include flour tortillas and chips from the Mexican restarunt?

I have had both since surgery, and both still do make me really full and really fast. I can only eat a handful of tortilla chips before getting stuffed - then there is no room left for anything else worth eating! Also, the tortilla, I pretty much eat out all the insides first and once that's done I'll eat a bite or two of the tortilla and I'm done.

I do eat low carb, but not as low as most on this site. I do workout a lot and eating nearly no carbs leaves me with zero energy. This surgery kind of forces the low carb though because your tummy can only fit so much.

Not only that, the white carbs make my stomach feel kind of weird. It makes me *not* to want to eat them. Even fruit - so the sugar has to be limited for me. I'm not all that sure how common this is...

Ahh! Good points!! I will try to do the same....I just am addicted to fish tacos. Lol. So I will try to eat them inside out. Thank you for replying! So nice of you to take the time to answer me. Thank you thank you!

i started to crave raw salmon sahimi and eel and tuna and anything fish it was really weird.. i think my body wants those sources of Protein???? im not too sure? lol

YUM! Sushi was my "last supper", Im 2 days post op and it sounds sooo good. BTW is raw fish ok to eat in the mushy stage? Minced up super small like spicy tuna without the spicy?

If your mushy stage is the same as mine was, then yes. It was any kinds of meat pureed like (I didn't eat raw anything though). Just mush it up really good with your favorite fixins - mine was lite mayo and enjoy :)

I didn't really eat spicy until I was a few months out, but that was just because I felt weird about it. Like it burns my mouth, and gives me heartburn, what's it doing to my healing stomach? Again, that was just in my own head though...
