Louisiana Sleevers??!

Recommended Posts

I eat anything lol... I try to limit (not avoid) carbs. I eat about 4 to 6 times a day. Somedays I can eat more, some days not. I focus on Protein first then a bite of veggies and carbs. Today was bad. I only had about 400 cal. But most days I stay in the 600 to 900 and I workout at least 3 to 4 days a week. Not a hard work out yet. I mostly do the Wii. If you have Yahoo or anything let me know we could buddy up.

How long have you been sleeved? I have a hard time getting my fluids in. I really work on this. I was very heavy to start with which helps me lose more fast at the begaining.

A normal day is

Breakfast carb balance tortila 1 egg 1 slice of cheese 1/4 cup turkey Breakfast sausage crumbles and a little onion. I cook the onion and sausage down pour an egg over it. When it is done I warm the tortila put the slice of cheese cut in half in the middle then pour the hot eggs over it. Wrap it like a burrito and cut it in half, half goes to my son and I eat about 3/4's of the other half.

I make a Protein shake to suck on all day. 1 cup of unsweeted almond milk, half banana, scoop of Protein powder, 1tablespoon of PB2 and some ice. ( I have a hard time drinking this all)

lunch can be almost anything. I will make a turkey wrap with turkey pepperoni and slice turkey cheese on the carb blance tortila I cut it in half and eat about 3/4 of the half.

snacks: turkey pepproni with a little cheese on top microwaved for 15 seconds. AWESOME I can eat about 4 of them.

supper is what ever I cook for my family. About 1 to 3 oz of it.

snack: cheese stick or pepperoni stick. maybe some fruit.< /p>

Hi all, I am from Lafayette, LA and went to Mexicali, Mexico to Dr. Aceves on June 23rd for a band to sleeve revision. I will make 4 weeks post op in 3 days and I am down 21 lbs and feel great. My experience was better than I could have ever imagined. The hospital and staff were all awesome and so so so clean! I was up and walking the halls right out of recovery and back to work in 6 days. I will tell you this about Mexico. For me when doing my research I wanted a doc that had a ton of experience with revisions and after much research I realized that Doctor Aceves was the one for me. He had a ton of experience and I was not able to find one bad review on him, which meant a lot to me. Also, I wanted to be in a full blown hospital with an ICU should anything happen to go wrong. Most other doctors in Mexico have their patients recover in a hotel or in a large condo with other patients and their companions recovering there with you. Some people like this idea and feel like they are on vacation. For me, I felt more comfortable in a hospital since I was having a major surgery. Just my opinion. It is all about what you feel most comfortable with. Good luck to all of you upcoming sleevers :)

I had my vsg done on June 28 by Dr gachassin in Lafayette. I've had no real problems, down about twenty pounds. The only thing that bothers me is that I get mad when something tastes good and I can only have a small amount. I eat pretty much anything now. I'm having a hard time getting my Protein in, because I hate those shakes. My friend had her vsg done by dr bourland in new iberia, and she loved him. She's had no problems at all. Hope this info helps...

Just curious... did your Dr. discuss what size sleeve he'd be giving you? I heard it ranges from 30 to 40. My surgeon explained that he uses a size 36. His reasoning was that in the case of leaks, it's not difficult to repair as something smaller.

I waisted about $200 on all sorts of Protein shakes. Another person recommended the Premier Protein Shakes and I think they are the best I have found. They are pre-made and come in little white boxes. One shake has 30 grams of Protein and to me they taste like chocolate milk. I get them at Sam's Club.

Hi Chamaica,

I"m in New Orleans also...going to TJ in two weeks. Are you set up with a bariatric support group here? Perhaps we could get out and walk together a few times a week?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
