Nice to meet you too Rebecca! I am very excited but nervous as well! I have been doing some studying on the subject of VSG and am getting prepared. But I am not looking forward to the healing process. I wish I could just have my surgery and feel great, get healthy and lose all my excess weight instantly! But that isn't how this works so I am getting ready for post op. It will be worth any pain and stress in the long run. I cannot wait! Have you been sleeved? Are you about to?

Hi again,

Yes I have been sleeved already and it was worth every penny. I am 3 months out now and have lost over 50 pounds. The first few weeks are hard because of the liquid diet but easy at the same time because you are NOT hungry. I still don't get hungry. It's just hard trying to get as much Protein in as you can during those weeks and having to take small sips. I did try and eat whole food too early...got a phone call and forgot to chew thoroughly.. that was not a nice feeling. Take things slow.. the pain was not bad at all. And the results are fantastic!!! Are you on yahoo or MSN> we can chat and talk more about it and I can help answer any questions you have before and after. :) I got my surgery done in Baton Rouge with Dr. Hausmann because 2 of my coworkers got it done by him 3 years ago and they swore by him. He is a great doctor and the hospital was very caring and understanding and helpful too.

Find me on yahoo - I work all night. :)

I am going Nov. 11th to Dr. Bellenger's consultation visit in Gonzales, La. I have my funds and am ready to get this done! I don't have yahoo chat or msn.. .. (used to but not anymore) but if you are online on here we can chat. (I think?) Still trying to get used to this website I'm a newbie.) lol Were you really really weak during your post op? When did you return to work?

Yeah I am new to this website too.. it's cool you are so close!! Too bad about yahoo or MSN. After surgery I felt pretty good. I just had my gallbladder out 2 years before and I think that was way way worse recovery. I couldn't hardly get up! My recovery from this surgery was easy.. I was moving about and drinking my Protein shakes after day 2 no problem. I had a full 6 weeks off work because my job is in the oilfield and involves alot of stairs and heavy lifting which you can't do post survery.. If I had an office job I think I could have gone back to work in a week!! The hardest part I had to this day was having to crush my prescription medications and take them in powder form.. ( they were nasty) and that I couldnt guzzle Water or drinks anymore.. ( when its hot you just want to chug it, but cant).

Otherwise, no issues!! Loving losing the weight.. I learned that you should just check the scale once a week and be pleasantly surprised other than every day because some days you dont lose anything and some days you lose a few pounds... so its best to just check like very Sunday as a weigh in day kind of thing and its awesome!!!

Is there a chat on here? hmmm

That is exactly what I was planning to do! Weight every week or ever other week! Lol I have an office job and am hoping to return to work soon afterwards. Not that I won't enjoy a few days at home... But gotta make that money! Imao. How old are you Rebecca? I am 20 will be 21 in January and am hoping to have my surgery before my B-day! What do you do in the oilfield? Have you ever had any complications post op?

Do you see a chat bar or icon at te bottom of your web page? I can't right now cause I am using my iPhone to reply now but when I'm not at work and using my laptop or desktop I see that little section that says chat. Maybe that is a way we can chat faster. ?? Idk we can try though. Lol

Hi I am from Alexandria LA. I was sleeved on Dec 14. I have lost 59lbs since surgery. My only regret was not having this surgery much much much sooner. I feel as though I have my life back. Simple things make me smile like realizing that I can cross my legs or bending and playing with my kids without discomfort. I workout everyday no matter what.

I started at 298lbs

Down to 239lbs

Yay!!! Sleeve.

Hey!!! I am also from Louisiana and was sleeved 12/14/10. Since the surgery, I am down 40 lbs. I previously lost 20 lbs before surgery. Right now, people are starting to notice my weight loss and that is making me feel great. I have been working out since Jan and can really start to tell the definition in my muscles. I absolutely LOVE my sleeve!!!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I look forward to getting to know everyone, the support here is amazing :) I have a few questions about the surgeons at Acadiana Weightloss Surgery. Has anyone here been sleeved by either of the two? I am finding more reviews on Dr.Gachassin rather than Dr. Eschete. But not all of them are great. Some say his bedside manners are horrible! I can only find 1 review on Dr. Eschete and it's great, but I wish I had more to go off of, one review isn't much. I'm just wanting some feedback on their quality of care and your experience with these doctors.

Also, I am cash pay, how long did it take you to get a consultation and into surgery? I called the office and asked the staff this questin and didn't really get an answer. I have the cash and I am 100% sure I want the sleeve. I would like to have the surgery next month, if not I will have to wait until the end of August.

Thank you so much!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
