I had Dr. Gachassin. While he is a very accomplished and capable doctor, he does come off with quite a bit of arrogance. He is friendly and nice but I don't feel like he listens when I ask questions. He just uses generic answers. It's kind of like, "you're doing fine, go about your business". His PA is very attentive and she makes me feel important and she tries to answer all questions and seems sincere. The staff is super and very friendly and helpful.

Dr. Gachassin rules the hospital. If you have any complaints, he will shake them up immediately. When he talks, the staff listens!

I feel like there should be more frequent follow ups with the Bariatric Team than they schedule. However, you can call at any time and they will talk to you.

I was also cash pay. Watch out for the double billings. The doctor's office, the anesthesia group and now the hospital have sent me subsequent bills. Now, they were quickly taken care of after a phone call, but when I got the $2200 bill from the anesthesia group, I nearly fainted!

I was scheduled about 6 weeks from the first visit. It depends on his schedule and if there are any openings.

I would recommend Dr. G and the LGMC Bariatric Dept.

im in belle chasse,la and also having my surgery in feb 2012 with dr. almanza, i have the band right now so hes going to remove it and sleeve me so happy. i hate this lapband.

I didn't take pictures of the facility but I can tell you that it's small, VERY clean, & VERY efficient!! It is located in a strip mall but that didn't concern me one bit because that's how a lot of places are in Texas & in some places in Louisiana. The guesthouse was well decorated & VERY clean & everyone was great! The nurse made rounds & checked on us & gave us our meds & anything else we asked for. Awesome Experience & I went alone!!

Hi guys! I'm not from Louisiana, but I am a neighbor! (Mississippi)

I was wondering if anyone had any info on Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia? I've been looking into driving down to Mexico to get the surgery done (my husband and I are terrified of flying) but then I found that for only $1000 more, I could have it done only 4 hours away rather than 13 hours away. I see that he is the Chief of Surgery at the hospital, so that is very comforting too, but I also see that he does the surgery as outpatient and then has you stay in a local hotel so he can make "house calls" to you. Is that safe? I haven't read of any doctors not making you stay 2 days in a hospital, much less only a few hours. Anyway, thanks for info you can give me!

I'm here in the New Orleans area. Sleeved March 29, 2012 and down 43lbs. I have my ups and downs but mainly like it. I would love to keep in touch for questions.

I was sleeved June 24,2011 by Dr. Zizi in West Monroe, La. I am down 30 lbs.

Amanda are you following a certain diet?? I don't know what I'm suppose to be eating...47lbs in 8 weeks is awesome!! Share your secret please!! Thanks!!

I eat anything lol... I try to limit (not avoid) carbs. I eat about 4 to 6 times a day. Somedays I can eat more, some days not. I focus on protein first then a bite of veggies and carbs. Today was bad. I only had about 400 cal. But most days I stay in the 600 to 900 and I workout at least 3 to 4 days a week. Not a hard work out yet. I mostly do the Wii. If you have Yahoo or anything let me know we could buddy up.
