Day 4 was a turning point for me ... from there, things just seemed to get better each day. Best of luck with your recovery! Remember, take it one day at a time.

Thanks! :)

I think the nausea was just overwhelming. Everytime I sat up I couldn't help it.

14 days til feeling normal? Seems like a long time. How do you drink your Water? I can't take mire than 3 sips without feeling wierd. Indigestion etc.

Yeah, that was a huge problem for me too. I couldn't drink initially without pain :( . Come to think of it, today is actually the first day where I think I've drank the most ever since surgery, and I'm 9 weeks out tomorrow. Everyone is different though. Some people never get gas, go figure lol.

OK, silly question... The gas pains everyone talks about... Is it gas in you stomach and like it hurts to burp? Or is it coming out the other end? Or is it the gas they pump into you abdomen?

Im glad to hear all is well!! Congrats on your new Sleeve!! :-)

For me with the severe Nausea that only lasted maybe 3 or 4 days at the most. I would still get mild nausea here and there for the next few weeks. I also had really bad back pain for about the first 5 days due to the bloated gas.

At week four is when I truly started to feel more normal. And by normal I mean, you start with nausea but after a few weeks you just feel tired a lot. So at week four I finally started to get over a lot of the tiredness... but it would just gradually decrease. I'm over six weeks out now and only in the last few days have I felt 100% normal again.

The healing is faster or slower for many people. I think I was more on the slower end - but regardless it's all been worth it! Good luck!

Oh oops, and the intake of Water, I'd say I was able to start drinking my daily intake at about 4 weeks out. Take your time and definitely be patient with yourself. It DOES get better!! :)

The source of the gas, is what they use to inflate your abdomen in order to get the surgical tools in and around inside of you. The way it comes out totally depends on the person. 11 years ago when I had gall bladder surgery, the leftover gas 'fatigued' my shoulders and neck something horrid (like getting the bends as a scuba diver, the gas created pressure on my muscles). Now after my vsg, the nurses kept coming in and asking if I had the "toots" (which I didn't lol) but I burped constantly for a week. One sip equalled 2 burps...every single time. Today is the first day that I'm sipping without burping (hooray!)

And I think every starts feeling "normal" at a different rate too. I felt well enough to drive 5 days post-op, but then had a little setback and had to remind myself that I was STILL healing and to take things slowly. I've been a couch potato the last 2 days and it has helped to keep things low-key.

I'm ready (and scared too) for mushies!!! Soon, soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
