Protein Shots instead of shakes

Has anyone tried protein shots instead of protein shakes? I'm 3 weeks post-op and I just can't stomach the protein shake. I haven't been able to keep them down. I need my protein because I've been feeling so weak and tired lately. I heard walmart carries them. Can someone please help?!!!

I have been researching shots, and many of them are poor quality of protein, here is one that looks really good..I have not tasted it yet so dont know how it tastes..

http://www.protica.com/

contains no low quality Gelatin or collagen you find in many other shot products. contains only whey derived Proteins. It comes in 25-50-200 gm protein sizes

They aren't the "best" choice, but when nothing else works some form of Protein is better than NONE.

There is whey protein isolate in them, and while not everyone has issues with the shakes, I did and I had no other option.

I tried over 20 brands/flavors and types of protein. Either they made me puke, or I could not tolerate the taste/texture. You can mix the shots in some crystal light or the G2 Gatorade to dilute them out because they are thick in consistency, and very "sweet tart" tasting which you might find repulsive as well.

If you can find the "PROTEIN POWDER" forum on here, there are tons of places to get samples and you might find one you like from those resources.

The Protein shots that have collagen are not good forms of protein. Of course they are better than no protein at all. Collagen is made from boiled cow hide.

I would try the Sytrex nectar if you don't like milky tasting Protein drinks. You can get samples quite cheaply if you look in the food forum under places to get samples.

I use the SlimFast Protein and put in an additional spoonful of Whey unflavored protein powder. I use 1% milk. I get about 20g's of protein per glass. Tastes good. Only thing to worry about is the carbs in the milk. I drink about 3 a day.

Thanks!...that web address doesn't work....I will call...

this link worked for me. I don't know why it's not working for someone else.

If it doesn't work, it's right at the top of the food forum under Protein powders- places to get liquid Protein samples

I was in that desperate needing Protein place and got the shots and they made me really sick, I have no idea why, but I was seriously nauseated and threw up violently after drinking them, after that I was out. Unfortunately none of us can tell you what Proteins will work for you. Like Tiffany I have tried LOADS of types, there are several websites that will offer protein samples and you can find what works for you. This is the site I used and have been able to try several things, also sometimes I like to keep the sample packs in my pantry so for hurried days I can grab them and take them with me, rather then having that whole out in the world hungry, not having the foods I need and end up eating foods that don't work out as well. Anywho! Hopefully you find the solution that works best for you!

I tried for MONTHS BEFORE surgery to find a protein shake that I could drink....I took three different ones BACK to GNC....they will take their stuff back with a receipt within a certain amount of time, thank goodness!!! I struck out, I was desperate.....I know not everyone agrees, most think the Protein powder crap is the best, but not if they're so bad you aren't drinking them....so I found a bullet flavor I could stomach and that is what I did until I could get all my protein in with real food. (at about 2.5 months) The ones at GNC are packed with 42 grams of protein and are a little less than 3 and a half oz. I'd open one in the morning, take a few sips. Take a couple more sips around noon and then finish the thing up later in the day, then I was done with it. None of the nursing a yucky protein shake for two hours gagging it down!!! LOL The grape was very strong, but the Blue Raspberry was not quite as strong, I like it the best. It's worth it to buy the gold card, you get 20% discount the first seven days of the month. If you order on line, you can buy one case, which is 24 bullets and get a second for half price. (at the first of the month) I am four months out, take Biotin and this is THE ONLY protein I used after surgery.....I haven't had any hair issues. I hope this helps! :)
