How long did your Sleeve Procedure take?

Recommended Posts

If there are no complications it should take about 40 to 45 minutes. My family barely sat down in the waiting room before my surgeon was coming out telling them everything went fine and I was doing great. LOL.

Hi, Let's see the last thing I remember is that it was 3pm the next when I was awake enough to see it was 5pm. I'll have to ask my husband (G)

My surgeon was out and commenting to my husband how quick he was done with me, he said 25 minutes. I guess I shrunk my liver enough, I lost 18 pounds during my 4 day liquid diet and the nervousness leading up to my date.

I have a video of mine, and from the first incision to actually pulling my stomach out of the largest incision, it was about 35 minutes.

Mine took about two hours, but my liver was kind of large, even after the pre-op diet.

My surgery took over 2 hours. I had been taking fish oil until 9 days before surgery and because of that, my blood was oozing. Everytime he put a staple on, blood oozed. Thankfully I wasn't hemmorhaging. I was never in danger, I didn't need a transfusion.

Mine was 3 hrs. I didn't follow pre op diet well enough...my liver was really fatty. Recovery was 3 hrs too because I woke up in so much pain they knocked me back out. I ADVISE EVERYONE I CAN TO FOLLOW THE PRE-OP DIET FAITHFULLY. It is worth it.

My husband had surgery right before I did and his took about an hour from the time they took him back to the time they brought him back out. I am not sure how long mine took, because nobody was there to tell me what time I got back from surgery. My husband was too busy recovering, too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
