I'm sending this from my hospital bed. Surgery went well. I did have sharp pain at at one incision. The rest have no pain. I felt nausea right after but they

Gave me meds and then I was fine. My stomach muscles are sore like a heavy workout. I do have a drain, I can't even tell it's there. It comes out tomorrow when I get my 4th and last leak test. They said they are going to get me walking tonite.

The staff here are excellent. All of them! It made a huge difference.

Thanks so much!

Update 10Pm. I've been feeling much better since 7pm.I walked around the unit with the nurses and it felt good. Newbies you have nothing to fear from the hospital day. At least for me you heal pretty quickly even if your tummy takes longer.they let me start sipping ice Water at 7pm and that felt great. Tomorrow I can have popsicles. I'll be discharged tomorrow afternoon. The reason I'm posting from the hospital is this is the kind of stuff I wanted to know so I figured maybe someone else would. I brought a bunch of magazines to read but I Haven't had time because the nurses kept me so busy monitoring vitals and asking how I felt. If you're looking for a really comforting and competent place to have your surgery st.alexius in bismark nd is the place to go. They also have special agreements with bcbs so insurance is a breeze. Anyway I'm glad I did this and all the other july sleevers are in my prayers.

Glad everything went well for you !!!!!!! Mine is next wed.

I hope everything goes well with you! One thing I didn't expect was pain in the left shoulder. The nurse said it was gas. It's 5am thurs and that's the only pain I have left, and it's not that bad.

Still feeling good from my surgery which was July 12. I am drinking every two minutes to make sure I keep hydrated. Yesterday I drove to the store to buy popsicles and gatorade and those have helped with the liquid phase. Saturday I will start full liquids.

The Protein shots and coconut Water are so disgusting and I really need to get some Protein into my diet, so I am looking forward to full liquids on Saturday.

There's really not much pain with this surgery and so far has been quite easy. I wanted to go back to work today, but my husband won't let me.

How are the rest of the newbies doing?

Sorry it has been so long. I have pretty much woke up long enough to take my meds, try to drink something, walk as much as I can, use the bathroom, then I go back to sleep. I am unsure why but I had alot of scar tissue making my one hour surgery last over two hours. He said that since he did so much moving around in the surgery it will take me longer than most to recover. I am slowing getting better though. I made myself drink some warm chicken broth last night and it felt pretty good. They told me that it will be tight when I first wake up and anything warm will help. I'm not jumping back as fast as I hoped but each day gets better and better. I take my pain meds like clock work since I know from working at the hospital it is never good to wait to take them until you are really hurting since it is hard to get the pain under control. I'm just glad that I am at my sisters where I don't have to watch the boys, clean, or anything. I honestly am tired after a short walk. How is everyone else doing?

My surgery took three hours because of so much scar tissue and the surgery was tough for the surgeon.

Stop falling back to sleep and get your ass up and walking. You are making it harder on yourself by sleeping so much. Force yourself to get up and get up every couple of hours and walk for ten minutes at least. I came home the next day and have already driven to the grocery store. Today I am going out to do errands. Recovery is in your hands.

Today I went to the store with my sister and I do feel better. I woke up at 8 am this morning and it is 1 pm so I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for the advice since I do need to be walking more.

I'm back in my hotel--got sleeved yesterday morning. So far it's been a cakewalk, really. No pain, healthy liver, something to look forward to. My surgeon rocks--he does 4 different kinds of leak tests before you're discharged. That really adds to my peace of mind. The nurse told me not to weigh the first week because there will be extra weight from IV fluids. So, I'm 1 day out, feeling great, and I hope all the new sleevers have a good post-op experience!

I took your advice and didn't let myself take one nap and I feel good. I was able to drink all though the day without getting sick. When I went to Mexico I couldnt keep anything down until the morning I left. I think my main issue was I forgot my gas-x strips and those have been my life saver. Instead of taking pain meds I would use a strip and take a walk. It was amazing how much of a difference if made. My sister says I looked dead the first few days. My eyes change to yellow when I sick so Im so I didn't look the best lol.. I'm still on Clear liquids until Monday then I can start to have some full liquids. What can I drink that is clear and has protien?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
