Leona: Happy Belated Birthday!!! Hope you had a Great day!!!

Mark: We are happy to have you on the July thread...except you are DEFINITELY showing us up in the weightloss category...LOL!!! That is an advantage that you guys have over us ladies!! Keep up the great work and thanks for the compliment to all of us ladies!!!

I had my doctor's appt. this morning. I got my first fill!! Boy can I tell a difference!!!

He had me lay on a table. He asked whether or not I wanted the area numbed first. I said sure :) He said my band can take a max of 4cc's and he gave me 3cc's. He said that if he got in there and felt the fluid push back, it would be less, but he didn't feel a kick back, so 3cc's went in just fine. He just had me take a breath and extend my stomach out so he could find the port easily. I go back in 4 weeks for a check. It was a piece of cake. I didn't feel a thing. I had to stay and drink 3 Dixie cups of water within 5 minutes before I could leave. I felt super full! Then I had asked to see the X-ray they took the day I left the hospital, so he let me come in his office and he pulled it up. It was so cool to see!! He said the band should be at a slant pointing up toward my left shoulder and it was. I could see the tubing going down and back up to the port. AMAZING! It seems more real now that I actually saw it. I am on liquid the rest of today and tomorrow to give my stomach a chance to get used to it.

I wore one size smaller stretch pants and top to my appt. today, too! 4X pants are really baggy on me, so I got out the 3's.

Today I have to bring my DS to the high school to pick up his freshman schedule and get his picture taken. I had over 130 of the incoming freshman in my wing at the middle school last year, so it's bound to be a reunion! I can't wait to see the kids - not because I'm starting to look different, but because I really miss them!

I'm off to change my signature :)

Well I did it!! I got in the pool this morning and I feel great and refreshed. Thanks for suggesting going early in the am. I think that I can do that most mornings. I weighed the same as yesterday morning so I guess the bathroom visit wasn't enough. Oh well, now that I am going to be exercising maybe I will start to lose and next week I get a fill.

Welcome Mark! Congrats on your loss.

Thank you Mary!:)

Hello everyone! I'm not sure how I missed out on this thread, but I'm glad I found it now. I was banded July 13th, so I'm one of you! It is so great to find a group of people that are at the exact place that I am in - we can "feel" for each other!

I just had my first fill yesterday - 1cc out of 4cc's. Mine didn't go as smoothly as most - for some reason my port was kink of deep and being really stubborn, but it finally did work! My surgeon didn't use XRay and seemed surprised at the difficulty mine presented, so I'm sure it was a fluke. Hopefully this fill lasts a while, because I'm not really in a hurry to do it again. Then again, maybe next time I'll get the "norm" and it won't be a biggie.

I had lost 21 pounds yesterday at my visit and my surgeon was almost reluctant to do the fill, but I told him that my scale had not moved in over 2 weeks, other than that morning, when it moved UP a pound. I was also not experiencing any restriction at all.

I am so looking forward to that feeling of being satisfied with small amounts of food! I was put on liquids just for the rest of the day and back on food today, so I've started off with almost 1 egg scrambled with some cheese on top and about 2 oz. of natural, unsweetened applesauce. Before yesterday, I could eat more than double that amount and still be hungry. So far, I'm feeling pretty satisfied. I'm a little nervous, so that may be part of it. I'm being very cautious - I've always had this "thing" about not "PBing" and so far haven't done it. I am scared to death for it ever to happen!

Oh yeah, just for fun, I got on my scale this morning and it went DOWN 3 more pounds since yesterday. Go figure!

Congratulations to all of you! Keep up the great work! I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome to the July club jdjjwoo and Mark! This really is THE best thread on this whole site! LOL at least I think so :) Congrats Steph on such a successful fill! I love being a late in the month Julyster, I get to have you guys do everything first so then it makes me more brave!! So thanks for sharing all your success & stories & thoughts!

Hey jdjjwoo,

I had my first fill 1 1/2 weeks ago and he poked 3 times and couldn't find my port, it's low profile port and he said it was deep so after that pain, we went to fluro and he hit it first time. I thought I was the only person who's doctor didn't use fluro with barrium swallow, so did your's not use fluro. Mine did after 3 pokes but didn't at first. I go back Tuesday for more fill, I only got 1.5 at first and I don't have hardly any restriction and i requested the fluro again. I just keep asking everybody because I don't want to be a butt for asking for it when clearly my doc doesn't prefer using it.

Sherrijo: I am going to always have my fills with fluro. I have heard too many stories of people needing port revisions, etc. I don't know when I'll be getting my first fill, but I'm returning to Dr. Rod in Mexico and he uses fluro. I will then determine if I want to continue to go back to him or find a local place. But, don't feel bad about wanting fluro. The doc should feel bad about POKING you 3 times!!

I look at it this way.....I paid a lot of money for this band and I sure want to take care of it...ya know what I mean?
