July 2006 Band Crew

Hey guys I had a good day today. We ended up not going to exercise but to run errands and do some Christmas shopping. It was fun. I love to shop. Most of my shopping this year has been on line but I do get to go and buy things too. I got a big container of Isopure today and I didnt' mike it with enough Water so it was bad but I am hoping to make it right next time. They told me that if I didn't like it I could bring it back but I hate to do that. I will just stick it out. I am going to my doctor on Thursday and I know he will be glad that I am getting Protein in now. I don't think I have lost any in a long time. I am trying to eat better though. I don't need another fill though because I am still having problems with this last one every once in awhile. I am glad to hear that you guys are doing good. Welcome back all that have been away. I can't wait to see the cruise pictures. Chris you are looking good man. Too bad I am married and 3 times your age and live in Texas or I would say watch out. Hubby is gone for the evening so I am going to clean house, take a bath and relax with my cats. I will try to post a picture of my baby. It might not work but here it goes.

Hi everyone,

Have just cried all day about Dr. Sanchez, such a sad sad waste and shame. I had .40 taken out. I thought I had 3 cc's in a 4 cc band but I had 2 cc's. Now I have 1.60. Man, I feel sooooooooooo much better. I actually ate some chicken tonight and went right down, no problem at all. I feel human again. I had still lost 5 pounds in the past 4 weeks but I think I will do better with not being so tight. Congrats on your little kitten Beth. Talk to you guys later.

Hey Everyone!! I'm back from the cruise!! Had a great time, enjoyed wonderful food, including Desserts, and weighed this morning thinking I would be in trouble and guess what?? I only gained 1 lb. Now, some of you may be thinking why would I be happy with that? I'm happy cuz I deserve to gain more....LOL!! But, my "handy bandy" helped me to keep the quantity down, while I enjoyed the quality. I also know that I need a fill, although I still have some light restriction.

The cruise went well and I swam with a dolphin in Cozumel! It was wonderful. The weather on the ship was a little cold but they had a solarium with a pool and 2 hot tubs. The last night we went dancing and had fun, although the ship was moving so much from the waves/weather that we were having to keep our balance. We actually looked like we had a few too many trying to dance and walk on Sunday night! This trip was not just about FOOD, which again, is thanks to my "handy bandy".

It's great to see everyone's updates: Steph: YOU GO GIRL!!

Chris: Looking fine....but one thing....SHOW US YOUR SMILE!! You got something to smile about and we are all smiling with you!

Kari: I miss you on chat!! Everyone else: I couldn't wait to check the July group. Welcome to our newcomers and those who have been "gone" for awhile.

I may post one of my pics on here from the cruise. It felt so good to have on formal clothes and actually feel SEXY!! I'm gonna be dangerous when I get to goal which of course will be awhile!! LOL!!

Mary!! Welcome back. I'm so glad that you had such a fun vacation! I miss our chats too, but im never home anymore!! Im up at 4:30-5:00 am every day and out of the house by 7:00 with no time to spare after getting my kids and hubby and myself all fed and dressed and ready for the day!! Usually we get home at about 6:30 and its like the last leg of a marathon getting everyone bathed, fed, read to, into pajamas, and put to bed. Finally I drop into bed and pass out lol, after reading LBT of course lol. Anyways lol, I hope you do post some pic's of your cruise!! Can't wait to see them!!

I called his office today to make sure and get funeral arrangements so I can fly down this weekend. He and Dr. Suzanne went to his ranch early Saturday morning so he could pay his ranch hands. After he paid them he was walking back to his truck when he was shot twice in the back. He made it to the hospital and was being prepared to go into surgery when he bled to death. They said it was a planned assasin. I have been just sick. He truly gave me a new life, he gave me a second chance and why do people do this to the good people in life. I know he's in a better place but it just won't be the same without him. His precious wife was banded as well and a very very sweet lady. I will just really miss him.

Sherrijo: I saw what happened to Dr. Sanchez on mexicanbandsters. For you who don't know, he was gunned down out at his ranch while there to pay his workers. I guess another doc...doc susan (sp?) was with him so she witnessed this. They don't have any suspects as of yet from what I read. There are probably other links on here you can read about it. I pray comfort and peace for his family during this shocking time.

Kari: Girl, your schedule makes me tired!! I'm also going to be working some in the next weeks to relieve people who are taking vacation during the holidays and make some money to help pay for the cruise and we plan on going to Michigan to see my family after Christmas. My dad is now on hospice as the last treament of chemo did nothing for the adrenal gland tumor (it actually doubled in size) and he also still has tumors in brain and probably in other areas of his body, too. Thankfully, he has not experienced any pain really. Anyway, I will always have on messenger and "look" for you online, just in case you get a spare moment....lol...especially this time of year.

Well, better get going for now. Time to do carpool....6:30 am...yes...crazy!!!

Hello everyone - just a quick check in...I've been suffering from the flu since Monday night. Stayed home from work yesterday and today. A lot of self talk helped me avoid throwing up...I was so worried I was going to - it's not good for the band. I'll leave the details at that. My son woke up with it on Saturday night/Sunday morning and was home Monday and Tuesday. I had a flu shot last Wednesday, but something must have already been incubating in me. Well, I'm heading back to bed. Take care everyone and stay healthy!

Yes it was Dr. Suzanne who does the fills. I have talked to his office yesterday and today and it was a setup execution. They were hiding behind a fence roll and just executed him. Very very sad loss.

Oh wow.....so sorry to hear about Dr. Sanchez..how tragic! I just really do not understand how human beings can do such horrible things to other human beings.

So sorry about sending the cartoon in the middle of this sadness....that was really in poor taste. I just didn't realize what had been posted previous to mine.

Back to reality for me today - two days of the flu was enough for me! On the upside, I'm down almost 5 more lbs!! Time to fly! Talk to you all soon!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
