Congratulations Chris for reaching the 100 lb. mark!! Kari, Congrats on 30! Stefani, glad to hear from you and that you are moving right along with the weightloss, too!! Maybe this will "move" me from my plateu. No, I don't need a fill, I just have to quit eating JUNK!! Keep going guys! I can't wait to reach onederland! I still have around 26-28 lbs to get there. I know I can do it!!

Charlie: I do know people who cannot tolerate cold drinks. One of them is the patient advocate who helped me with my surgery in Mexico. She does not do "cold" at all. So, I think this is common. I can do it okay, myself. Hey, you are doing GREAT, also and will be at goal soon! Keep it up!

Hey Mary,

Maybe you and I will hit onderland together. I'm at 219 so maybe we can both do it together. My very tight fill seem to let me eat a little today and no pb so maybe it's getting better.

Chris I'm so awesomely proud of you, you rock. Proud of you to Karik. I just hit the 50 mark even and it has took me 4 months, much, much slower than I expected but I guess I'll eventually get there.

Hi Beth, hope your doing better today.

Love you all,

Sherri Jo

Okay Beth,

Let's race our butts off, literally. We have little over one month, we can do it, yes we can. Oh crap, I just noticed my wwwww's are not wanting to work on my laptop. What do you do for that? Sorry, it just happened. LOL.

Okay, Let's check in at least once a week with each other for support. You go girl.

I'm jumping in on your 20lbs by Christmas challenge...I want to be 250 by Christmas and I'm at 270 right now...I see my lap band doctor on Friday and I am not sure if I'll get any more fill or if I'll stay at 7cc's. I can't wait for the day when I can say I weigh 219!!

Woot! I'm finally having consistent weight loss since my 2nd fill a month ago. I think I could stand to have a teensy bit more of a fill but I'm going to try and wait until the weight loss slows down. I have now lost over 30 pounds and am aiming to be at 250 at my weight-in next week. YAH!!!

Paula? You out there? How are you doing?

Marie

Well I went to the doctor today and he said that my band is just right for now. I was pleased that he didn't want to unfill it some. He did say that the reason that I am not losing any is because I am not getting enough Protein. I knew that I wasn't but didn't know that that was the reason I wasn't losing any weight. I just thought it was lack of exercise. I am going to have to try to find ways to get more protein in. My PCP told me that I have to take some more diabetic medicine and start some meds for my cholestrol. She did give me some Equip for my legs so I hope that will help me sleep. My family (me, hubby and daughter) are having some issues over our dog and the way our house is cleaned. It is a loooong story but I have been kind of down about it. It is like we are keeping secrets or something. Anyway I am trying to keep an upbeat about it and not worry. I am glad that Sherri and Stepanie have joined me in the challenge to lose 20 pounds before Christmas. I hope others will join in too. I will talk to you guys later. Hugs

Yah Beth,

I'm so proud your band was fine. OMG, did you know, now I'm telling this and I know I'm going to get some, what in the world are you thinking Sherri comments but here I go anyway, I am lucky to get in 15 to 20 grams of Protein per day, and I had no clue it affected our weightloss. I mean I know we need it health wise but I just can't eat much. I ran out of Vitamins 2 weeks ago and haven't bought anymore, I know I'm a poor excuse for a bandster but I've just been so busy and I know that too is no excuse. I will try to do better. Glad your doing well Beth.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
