June 2010 Sleevers...JUMP ON BOARD THE LOOSERS WAGON!

Recommended Posts

I wanted to organize one area of people having surgery in June 2010 so we can keep a sort of thread journal of the process that starts before the surgery!

June 28th for me!

JUNE 23rd here. Just got my letter from my PCP and all forms are being submitted today for approval. Please Pray for me. I'd hate to push this surgery date back.

June 22 for me!

I was supposed to have a band put in May 26, but they couldn't because of a huge hiatal hernia. So sleeve it will be, and after doing research, I'm pretty happy with with my alternative. People on the board who have had revisions of the band to the sleeve sound very happy with the sleeve, as do the people who have only had the sleeve. I'm grateful the sleeve is covered by my insurance!

June 9th for me! First surgery of the day at 7:30 a.m. and apparently I get two surgeons for the price of one because I have adhesions. Keep your fingers crossed that we can do this laparoscopically and don't have to convert to open. I am sooooo very excited I don't know if I'll make it a week!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
