Anybody got tattoos??

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just recently got my 3rd tattoo on my foot/ankle on Tuesday. I absolutely love it! I was wondering if anyone else has any and if so what they are, where and the significance of them. My first one I got when I was 18 on my lower back. It is a dolphin with a moon going through it. I am a swimmer and was still competitively swimming then plus I love dolphins. My 2nd was on my lower hip and is a chinese sign for energy. My 3rd one winds around my right foot/ankle and is a flower with stars around it. Curious about everyone else....

Hi,

I have two roses on my shoulders, one poppy on my inside ankle and a large orchid with tribal around it with my son's initials. My husband hates them. Told me if I got anymore I'd have to but it on my rear and say "this space for rent" :-). They're very addictive. I would like to get a gecko on my foot but I better wait awhile.

I agree, they are addictive!! I have one on my right ankle, got it when I was 18. I do not regret getting it, however I wish I would have put more thought into what I got.....Minnie Mouse. What was I thinking!!! It is cute, but I wish it would have been a butterfly or something. I was with 2 of my friends and we were looking through some books, I felt rushed to pick something cuz we didn't go with enough time to really look and there were hundreds of books! Don't know why I chose Minnie Mouse.....I would love to get another one once I lose all my weight!!!

Hi Guys! ( or girls...lol)

I have a Celtic lotus on my right ankle...its pretty large.

On my left calf...well..I have an entire sleeve. Ankle to knee. Its hard to describe but its a Koi fish in a bubble floating thru Water with cherry blossoms and traditional lotus flowers. Its pretty wild. Very bright.

If I can loose enough weight I want to get a backpiece of a very large mermaid.

Tricia,

Your dolphin/moon on your ankle looks almost identical to mine on my lower back!! I am thinking about getting another one, definitely not now..... maybe a tiger on my back someday if I get thin enough to want to show my back off again. I used to love showing off the one on my lower hip when I was thin in a bikini. Hopefully I will get back to that point eventually. They are so addicitive!!

No tattoos here. Wrong generation....but I have a funny story.

My daughter had mentioned that she wanted a tattoo and I had a serious meltdown. Flash forward a couple of years....she was in labor with her third child (hard labor) and the nurse decided that she needed a sonogram. So they bring in the machine and my daughter holds up her hand in the "stop" signal and says, "Wait....first I have to tell my mother something". Seems she had a tattoo on her stomach (of all places) and had successfully hidden it from me for over a year.

Not yet. I'm too picky. I've had designs that I absolutely loved.. and was so sure I would get... but I told myself it was something I'd do when I lost weight. So, that's my plan. Maybe when I get to goal, I'll get a whole body piece! LOL

But seriously, I'm thinking that if my stomach is as huge of a mess as I think it will be when I'm all done, and plastic surgery can't remove ALL of my stretch marks, I'd see about getting something huge that'll cover it all. There's supposedly people out there who can do it, but it kinda grosses me out, imagining tattooing over scars and stretchmarks. :|

DH and I were watching Miami Ink the other night, and they were doing tattoos that signified life changing moments. This guy got a picture of his cat that he had for 13 years tattooed on him, with the name and dates and in memoriam on it. Not my cup of tea. This other chick got a really pretty lizard on her back i think to symbolize her fiance that passed away.

It made DH and I think about what we would get if the one of the kids passed, or if one of us passed. I know..morbid...but it was interesting to talk about. He said that if I died he would get a little redheaded fairy with wicked wings sitting on a gardenia. Gardenias are my favorite flowers, andhe always calls me his wicked little fairy. If he died I would get a small pirate ship on a fair sea. That is just what he is. a smooth sailing pirate. For the kids it was pretty easy. For our son it would be a spider. he loves them, he loves spiderman, and he acts like a spider climbing on everyhting. For our daughter it would be a ladybug. When she was born this nurse came in and said "Her spirit guide is the lady bug". We thought, yeah, whatever, ok. Ever since then no matter where we live, we have issues with ladybugs. they find her. they are always around her. and she has loved them the whole time. they are the only bug she loves. and it is not like we fostered it. but she has become our little lady bug.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
