Surgery date 5/27 anyone else around that date?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

So I finally got my surgery date.

My dr plans on using a 48 fr bougie, which I am nervous about, I am going

to see if I can get him to go a bit smaller..ok, a lot smaller, wish me luck!

Anyway, going to use this time period to get myself weaned off of the

sugary drinks..I have fallen into the bad habit of having sugary cokes, dr peppers, etc..plus fixing up my coffee with hot chocolate, etc.

I am going to get myself over on coffee with just splenda or splenda/milk, and crystal lites instead of the other drinks.< /p>

Doc says the preop diet is 1 week clears with "an occasionaly cracker".

So, impatiently waiting!!

Lisa

Hello! This is my first post -- I just found out that my "tentative" surgery date is Mon, May 24th (that is "scary" close when I look at my calendar). I call it tentative because my surgeon requires that I lose 15 lbs between now and then. I've agreed to bust my tail and try to hit that mark, but am a bit concerned about that much weight starting <ugh> right now! I've always felt a little more comfortable about starting "right away" or "tomorrow"...but it is time to get going!!

I wish you the best, Lisa, as it sounds like we are beginning this "new life" within just a few days of each other. I've never had weight loss surgery and am excited and a little nervous about what is to come. I've realized that I am in the minority (both on this board and in real life with the procedure) since I am a man. I also have quite a bit to lose >200 lbs...so let's cheer each other on as we get closer and then afterwards. As long as I have mine on the 24th, perhaps I can tell you what to expect (with three days' warning :-).

Best of luck to you and all who are reading this!

- Dave

How goes the 15 lbs?

Thats really the pitts that they make you lose weight before.

Hope things are going well for you, and we will be on the losers bench before

wow guys!!!! it's getting close. Its good to have some folks all getting surgery around the same time. You will be good support for each other.

On the 48 bougie... that does seem a bit large. My surgeon uses a 32 and I asked him to go bigger because my BMI was low. He said okay but didn't want to go over 38.

Ultimately we are not talking about a huge difference. If you search "bougie" you will find some posts by tiffykins that give a good visual of bougie size using pens.

So... I guess I just gave you a mixed message..... dont go above 38 but it doesn't really matter :)

Maybe get some other input.

Take care guys....

Dave, hows the 15 coming along

Stacey

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
