High protein but not high fat????

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am wrapping up my first few days of eating real foods. I have had several good learning experiences, but as I had read from many of you, my go to diet food grilled chicken breast is really not working out. I need to eat it with things that are creamy or super moist, or I have gone so far as to chop it til its almost pureed. I need some ideas on things you add to food that give it that creamy moist taste but that don't add loads of fat to it. I am trying to be mindful of my fat intake because I know me and I have the ability to bend rules just enough to make something that is good for me, crazy bad!!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Greek yogurt hands down. The Oikos non-fat plain, you can add soy sauce, chili powder, minced garlic(the kind in the jar, not raw cloves) worchestershire sauce, AI steak sauce, it can be heated with cheese, for me it's a staple in our family menu. My husband and son have zero idea they are eating greek yogurt instead of full fat sour cream. I don't even buy sour cream anymore. All of my recipes that call for sour cream, get greek yogurt now.

A1 steak sauce has 15 calories, zero fat, and 3g carbs per tablespoon. Considering you're only going to be eating tiny portions, you could use 1 teaspoon because it does have a stout flavor, but I truly love it.

I didn't acquire a taste for greek yogurt on it's own, but adding other stuff to it really helped.

I hadn't thought of adding all the savory stuff to it! Thank you. I have used it as a sweet thing adding the spreadable fruit or putting it in a Protein Shake, but I will try your suggestions. Thanks Tiff.

I've found that the pre-packaged Perdue chicken Strips - which you can get in various seasonings - are moist enough to eat by themselves. You may do better with them.

I made a quick chicken salad with cut up chicken, fat free Miracle Whip, and some sweet relish. Keeps it moist and it had good flavor for "quickie" meal. (I do the same with tunafish.)

I like to cook up some fresh baby leaf spinach and add a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and a bit of fresh chopped garlic. I boil then drain the spinach but it's still a little watery and slippery so when I eat small cut up pieces of chicken I take some spinach on the fork along with it and it really helps it to go down. I do the same with steak.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
