Is there such a thing as a conservative agnostic?? lol

Not really kidding. I agree with a few things from some people mentioned above. I truly feel that there is never really a set black and white answer to politics or religion. I really despise the hypocrisy of organized religion, yet in the same breath I have met some great people of faith. Sound a little different to you guys?? Probably not, but just an observation.

I can't get down with a lot of the lib ideas but some I do. Again, it's not all black and white, there is a whole lot of gray. You can cherry pick all you want from both politics and religion so you have to pick the lesser of two evils.

Some of the best ppl I ever met were Christians.... and some of the worst. You are right about the gray area. There is more gray shade in the world than black. That was why I consider myself agnostic who is liberal with a few conservative ideas. I use to love politics and be very opinionated about my views. Overtime the blinders came off in regards to belief systems. They all out for their own self interests. Realized the limitations of that and adjusted accordingly. By that I mean. My sister is very religious. She voted for Bush ONLY because he is aganist abortion, which she feel so strongly about that it overrode normal Democratic alignment. So far I've never felt so strongly about an issue that it came to that but if the time come I know I'll vote for what I believe in over my loyalty to some party.

So happy to find this thread! Had to move out of the bible belt to realize what I believed or didn't believe when the people around me stopped telling me what to believe. I'm hoping to be sleeved this winter. I almost hesitated about my surgeon when he spoke to the group about god. But that's Texas for you! So I just laughed and told my religious mother she would love him!

Funny thing now that I'm a recovering southern baptist...when I got married we discussed what would be crossing the line in our relationship to a point of no return. For him it would be me cheating on him. I thought about it and decided if he ever "got region" that would be crossing the line! I haven't cheated and he's still agnostic!

Thanks for starting this thread!

This is my first post. I've been creeping for awhile. But I'm happy to find a forum that acknowledges I'm going to be making this change for myself. It's me, not (insert deity/deities here.)

One of my best friends and, quite honestly, one of the finest people I have ever met, is a Jew for Jesus. Classifications don't make you a decent human being, it's up to you.

That being said, being able to sleep in on Sundays has contributed to my being a reasonably decent person.

Speaking of sleeping in....whenever we go to visit the inlaws, we always go to my FILs church. I go along without complaint because it makes my wife happy and it's only a couple times a year. But the services are at 11am, it's not over till noon. I feel like half the day is wasted. I'd rather go at 8 and be done and have the rest of the day to enjoy my heathen lifestyle.

We have to do that with my grandparents. I tell my husband (the family Jew) that it is the price of admission.

Gosh I'd love to say that I don't have a god to worship, but unfortunately during a long hospital stay with my son (we spent about two years worth of nights in hospital between birth and age four) when asked about religion I thought for a second and then replied....We (my son and I) are Sleeptopians. The gal looked at me with that "what the hell are you talking about" look that they get but can't ask questions because it's not PC...and said "Is there anything we can do here to assist you with your prayer?" To which I replied that we Sleeptopians commune with our god through REM sleep. If we do not achieve this deep sleep state daily we stray from the Sleeptopian path and sadly many do not return :(

Which got us a "do not disturb" sign on the door and let us skip the every four hour nurses rounds :) After all, they have to do everything they can to assist in your religious path :P If there actually is a god...I know he was laughing as I said that all straight faced!

My grandfather was a baptist preacher....he could pull crap like that out of his arse like nobody's business. I guess I'm a chip off the old block LMAO

I shall "pray" for ya'll tonight...I took some liquid nyquil which should keep me in touch with the sleeptopian god all night long heh heh

Last time I identified myself as a humanist I was called a Satanist. Oh well, whatever they wanna call me. But for a Satanist I sure do have a big deficit of goat heads and pentagrams in my house....and there's a whole lotta pink... :P

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
