Awesome!!! I weighed 270 when i started to. It seems like forever to get rid of all this. How long did it take you to hit your target? What was your approx weightloss each month?

Thank you bunches.

I lost 80 the first 4 months then it took me about 3 months to lose 53 more pounds until I hit goal at the end of December . My goal was 150. I have since dropped below that to 127-130 on any given day.

I didn't keep a tally of my monthly loss. I never had a true stall and saw the scale drop every week with the exception of when I got really close to goal and I didn't lose anything for about 10 days then weight fell off of me again.

thinoneday, thanks for the response. Sounds like it wasn't an issue at all for you. And your weight loss is terrific. Congratulations.

The whole idea of weight "falling off" sure sounds awesome. I hope I will be as successful too Tiff! You're an inspiration to all of us. Right now we're wannabees - soon to be an inspiration too I hope.

Terri I hope you get insurance approval soon. I'm originally from Tulsa and worked for a while in B.A. when I was young. I have been gone for 35 years but I still miss Tulsa.

Thanks everyone, y'all are wonderful ! ! !

As for my exercise routine.

I had a weight lifting program set up for me by a trainer at the YMCA. It focused on certain parts of the body. Like day 1 was front of the body muscles, chest, biceps, quads, abs, Day 2 was back of the body, shoulders, back (upper and lower), hamstrings. My 3rd day focused on extremities, and doing leg lifts with weighted balls, squats, lunges, and some ab work. I did one day of cardio.

Now, I've cut the cardio out, just started lifting again after gallbladder surgery, and am doing major ab, butt, thigh work outs. I love, love, love Hip Hop Abs for cardio, also Zumba is amazing. My focus was to burn fat by building muscle. This did slow my weight loss down, but I lost inches quickly. Now, that I'm trying to maintain, my main focus is toning up at this point.

I still have a tummy fat roll that I'm working on. It's way smaller than it was even last month, but I knew I would be left with a panni. It's annoying, but it helps give me that hourglassy shape that I've always wanted LOL.

Cardio is great for calorie and fat burning. Weight lifting is great to burn fat, but you'll be building muscle which is leaner, and more dense that fat, so your numbers on the scale may not go down. Take your measurements before you start. This will help keep you going if the numbers don't drop.

Did you have ANY idea that this was even possible? I cannot begin to wrap my mind around losing enough weight to fit into a 6 - 8 or even a size 10!!! Did you lose most of your weight with the band or sleeve or was it a combo Tiff?

It's still tough to wrap my head around buying small clothes. I still reach for larges, and I wear a small/medium top. So, it's kind of a mindtwist even to this day. I never imagined getting to a size 6. Last weekend at Wal-Mart, I fit into a size 4 crop pant. I almost fainted, but I know their sizes run big because I can't get into a 5/6 at Rue21. I actually have a pair of jeans size 10 in my closet that are technically too big, but they are comfy and I refuse to get rid of them. Those are now affectionately called my "fat" pants. John hates them because they sag in the thighs and butt. He tells me all the time to get rid of them, and I just can't do it. I have slacks in sizes 6 & 8, jeans in 7/8 and 9/10, crop pants in size 4 and 6, and my shirts range from small to medium. I have 1 dress that's a size 7 from Ross. Nothing fits exactly the same, I can go to 3 different stores and walk out with 4 different sizes. Shopping is very exhausting, but it's also loads of fun.

I lost 23 pounds with the band initially then the complications started, lost restriction and started gaining weight back. In 3.5-4 months, I gained back 16 pounds before my revision surgery date. My highest weight was 270 the morning of the band surgery, 263 on revision surgery day, and today I'm hovering around 128-130lb. So, I would say 98% of weight loss came with the sleeve.

I initially thought I'd get banded, but when someone suggested I investigate further and told me to read up on the sleeve, I was sold. I still cannot imagine getting to goal, actually losing 75 - 80 lbs!!! It seems like a dream that I'm so close to getting started on this journey, you so inspire me, thanks!

Thank you as well. You're gonna do fabulous, and I'll be here for you as much as I can. You'll make goal, and you will WIN. That's what I kept telling myself through my recovery, and through every struggle. I was hellbent on winning, and refused to fail. I'm truly excited for you, and can't wait for you to get sleeved.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
