Full of holes - but home and feeling GREAT!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone - my revision from band to sleeve was done on Friday 1/8. Came home yesterday and feel AMAZING today. So thankful that there was no nausea and/or complications. This is a blessing in itself as I had all of the following done:

1. EGD

2. Gall Bladder Removal

3. Adhesion removal from previous abdominal surgeries

4. Band Removal

5. Sleeved

6. Undiagnosed hiatal hernia repaired

I was also on a heart monitor after surgery because of an electrical issue in my heart that they wanted to keep a watch on. The nurses said I was the lady that had the "whole laundry list" done and now that I look at it I guess they were right! Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas was wonderful. This was my first time there and I was really impressed. They are very good at pain management and all the nurses, techs and docs super attentive.

I'm actually working at my home office today (trying not to do too much!), but I'm almost caught up from my day off on Friday. It feels SO GOOD to have that band out and I'm looking forward to the rest of my life with the sleeve. I was really nervous the days before surgery but am so glad I didn't let that get to me and went ahead with it all.

Congratulations! Sounds like you did everything but repair the kitchen sink. Glad to hear that you are feeling so well - but don't over do it!

Keep us posted on your progress.

Glad things went well and you are feeling better. I had my sleeve done at Forest Park as well, and I agree, they are amazing! The pain management was very good. Take it easy and don't overdo!

Good for you! Getting it all done at one time makes a lot of sense. Glad your surgeon agreed. Sounds like we have a place in the US to go to for WLS. Of course, if you are self pay~~~then Mexico is still the option.

Take care, walk and breathe. and sip!

Texas T

Good to hear you are home and doing so well!! I can't believe how much you had done!! I had my band removed and the sleeve and I felt pretty crappy for 3 days.

I bet you are happy to have that stupid band out! I know Iam. I love the fact that when it is time to eat I don't start stressing out!

You will do great with the sleeve, I'm 2 weeks out and have lost 13lbs, no mess no fuss!! I love the sleeve!

Wow, you really had a full overhaul! Congrats on moving on to the loser's bench.

I am curious...what kind of pain management did they use? What was the fee for all those surgeries? You may not even know the answer to that yet...US hospitals send fee after fee after fee to cover all kinds of different components of hospitalization.

That was one thing I liked about Dr Aceves. One all inclusive fee. Period.

Keep us posted on how you are doing!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
