Check the list and make sure you've got Malox Plus or Gas X with you when you arrive home. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. Hopefully by now you are in bandland or will be and I hope and pray that the band will bring you much success in your weight loss goals.

Hello my banded friends!!! Thank you all for the kinds words and for thinking of me. :biggrin1: I now have scars on my belly and I never thought I would be so happy about scars in my life!! The surgery went very well and I've been following the band rules.

My DH has been wonderful and stayed with me all night in the hospital....they brought him a cot. Don't know how I could have done it without him. I do remember telling him that I was so happy to get my band and just couldn't express it b/c it hurt too much. Bless his heart though, he got lost going home. I think we lost about 30 min or so in a 3 hr drive. I cried and then got over it. :think I just wanted to be home.

I did have a PB though at 3:15 AM last night. Honestly, I followed all the rules to a tee, but started to feel a little nausea after taking 1/2 of my Effexor pill (they switched me from the capsules). I took the other one 1/2 hr later. I went to sleep and woke up around 2AM and realized I needed a suppository. It worked a little, but that dag-gone PB was coming no matter what!! :D I remember someone saying the only way to get rid of that feeling is to PB, so I finally let it go. I was scared and went right for the Aloe Vera juice. THANK YOU Kathy - the best me. I think you saved my life.

I called my surgeon today and they said to stay off the all meds in pill form for a day b/c of the swelling. I feel so much better today and only have a little pain and burning in my port area.

Is it normal to have occasional burps and hiccups? I've had both off and on now since Fri. I think it's probably just my body adjusting.

So far so good. I still think childbirth was easier, but I would do this 100 times over. I am so thrilled about my new future. :biggrin1: Special thanks and hugs to all!!

I'm curious. :D Did I actually have a PB as described above? I didn't have any slime that everyone seems to have. I just got sick and it was all Water. TMI? Sorry....I was just wondering.

I had ice chips, Water, & jell-o (maybe 2 oz). I started to feel nausea after my effexor, so I was wondering if it got stuck. I didn't have other symptoms on a PB. I bet it was post-op sickness b/c I was 100% compliant. It did scare me, but thanks to LBT, I knew I probably didn't slip my band and I had my wonderful Aloe Vera juice afterward. :biggrin1: Thank God for LBT!!

Sorry to hear about getting a Little lost, I'm also sorry about the nausea, it does sound like post op stuff. Medicine on your tummy might be too rough without food to help move things along abit.

God bless your hubby, sounds so sweet. I love my DH, he waited for me in the hosp too. While I slept, he just sat in the chair in my room!

It is nice to be home though isn't it. Now your journey begins, and you will have your own experiences. We all have the same destination sort of but we have different road maps. Best wishes on you recovery, and remember to drink water! sip, sip, sip.:(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
