Hurray! Congratulations and keep us posted. Yes, Helen I was thinking the same thing. any morphine based painkiller gives me dreadful headaches. I suppose that means you and I are very unlikely to become addicted to opiates! :-)

No Joon! I will just stick with the ecstasy and crystal meth! Joke!!!

I am so There! We can get Meth mouth together!

so here i am at home in bed and all confused. Whats next i dont feel hungry but i dont feel full. I still feel sore and windy - is this normal. How long before the soreness has gone.?

Thanks for all your advice i feel so protected by you all.

Dalite xxx

Yeah it's all normal. You have just had major surgery so you can't expect anything else at the moment. Just keep taking your painkillers (these will enable you to keep mobile), get plenty of rest as well (you may experience restlessness at night but that is normal too) and follow your surgeon/dieticians guidelines regarding food intake. You will progress through the diet now and before long you will be onto mushy turkey, roasties and sprouts lol! Take care and you will be fine x

Dalite - you're normal - we've all been through it - glad you figured out what was causing the headaches - they sucked after surgery -- be sure to eat/drink whether you're hungry or not - you have to stay hydrated and keep your energy up - and WALK - that will help with the pain and the wind! Keep us posted!

hi all - im in bed at home -yay- feel ok generally just a bit yucky and the wind pains are driving me mad. My mums here at the moment and she was trying to burp me the dietician has just rang and im a bit confused about food and liquid -any ideas formy first few days and how do i get rid of the wind?

Dalite -

Use a heating pad on your back and/or your chest - that helped me to get rid of the gas they used to "blow you up" during surgery. Walking also was a big help.

My surgeon had me on Clear liquids for 10 days following surgery (day 1 being the day after surgery) - so, anything you can see through - apple juice, chicken broth, beef broth, chicken noodle Soup without the chicken or the noodles, SF Jello; SF popsicles; Water, herbal tea. Check out the thread I posted entitled "Dr. Aceves' Information" it has the entire food list for the post-op diet through mushies - it might help to give you some ideas on what is "easy" on your new stomach and will allow it to heal.
