We had a really nice lunch on Sunday-it is nice to talk to people who know what you are going through. I hope more people can come next time!

I don't think i can make it if we meet on 12/30. I have friends coming in for NYE that weekend so i think it will be pretty hectic. If we can do something after the first of the year, I am in. I also think Starbucks or something like that is a great idea. I really enjoy going to restaurants but it is always an opportunity to make a bad choice:)

Cassandra-congrats on your band! How are you feeling? The first few weeks are challenging but after that, it is all downhill and you will be so happy that you did it!!!

Hello Diane...I am back from surgery...did you not get my PM? I PM'd you last week sometime about our starbuck's meeting. I hope you arent upset...I am glad to hear that you all had a good time at RAM. I think it is a great idea for someone new to be a hostess, plan the time, place and such. I really want to make it next time. well this message is going to be short, b/c i am starting to get really sore. I hope all is well.

Congrats Cassandra!

You will start seeing that each day the swelling goes down and you feel pretty good in about 3 days. Of course you will find you drop everything on the floor when you can't pick it up....

Of course I am not mad, I was replying to Teri who suggested Starbucks. Maybe we could even have little get togethers there in between gatherings since it will be impossible to get everyone free on the same date.

That would be wonderful! Actually I just went to Starbucks today and asked for them to make me a drink that ws low in sugar, calories, carbs and moderate in fat, and they had no problem whipping me up some type of latte which was delicious! It was like a low sugar vanilla breve latte...any other suggestions on what to have from there as a bander? I would love to meet up now that I am finally pre-op and I am oh so excited!

Melissa--Thank you! I am doing pretty good. It is still hard to believe that I am actually here, I am in "band land." It does feel good though, I have worked so hard to get here! Truly, I am feeling quite well except for the feeling of being in a foggy haze which i have attributed to pain meds. and just my body going through some big changes! Thank you for asking, I hope that all is well with you that you had a great Thanksgiving!

I mentioned in a previous post that I had some clothing to give away at the next get together. I have 4 full sized kitchen garbage bags to give away. I need the room now, so if anybody wants them, they range from 14 to xxl 18's. I am in Romeoville, shoot me a PM and let me know if you want them, they are in washing now. They have been in a garage for about a year so they were a bit musty. ~Mandy

Mandy, the tops would probably fit me, but I wear a tall in pants. What do you have? I am really looking for some summer stuff right now, because I go on a cruise in January, and I don't have anything that fits at all.

Thanks! Eileen

Hello Chicago Bandsters!

Hope all did well on Thanksgiving. What a huge change for me. I was the one last year that filled my plate time and time. Wow have I changed. It is so strange that this world is so hung up on always getting together to eat. Lets get together and shop!!!! HAHA. Take care and hope all is great. Jules.

Sue, I'm sorry I didn't think of this until now - the next time we meet in the suburbs, you could take the el or the train to Oak Park, and I could pick you up and drive you to wherever we are going.

Eileen

Awesome Eileen, I may have to take you up on that offer!;)

So, anyone ever hear of Meetup.com?? Maybe we can start a group meeting there for all the people in the chicagoland area dealing with the issues of weight loss surgery, and maybe even a lap-band specific group. If anyone is interested, send me a message. Ill get the group started. I would love to meet other people in the area dealing with the same issues! That way, even people who cant check the sight often, can be automatically emailed with meetup info. Sound good?? :)

I am also in the Chicago area. I had my procedure done on December 7th at Mercy Hospital by Dr. Bonomo. I guess he is doing like three a day at this point, so new people should be visiting the site soon from Chicago!

Hello Chicago pals.

had my first fill on Thursday - 1.55 in a 4cc band.

Still getting used to things.

I did some searching and i think I have pb'd twice - no food or pain just spitting out mucusy-goo. Gross. i need to be slower with the eating.

I can call this week to go back in if i want to be readjusted w/o a fee but i just don't know....

Hope you are all well!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
