Anyone in the DFW area?

Dr. Snow did my surgery June 2007. He is a very wonderful person. He and his office staff are very supportive, friendly and helpful. He has a great sense of humor and spends time with you to discuss problems or praise your success. I work downtown FW and live far west FW. Are there any support groups west?? All that I have seen are mid cities or Dallas.

No I did it at HEB does he offer it at usmd currently?

Probably not. USMD is where I went to the seminar, so I initially thought I'd be having my procedure a couple of miles from my house. HEB is fine with me. I've made that trip monthly for the last 6 months.

One of my friends just had lapband on the 15th and she swears she saw Dr. Carter while she was in recovery at the hospital on Matlock. Her surgeon was Dr. Harris or Harrison.

I scheduled my surgery today. It will be on June 17th at Arlington Medical Center. I'm really happy that I won't have a long car drive to and from the hospital.

So are you getting excited..?

I'm very excited! I've made calendars for my liquids and mushies. I've started a "Lapband Box" with all the things I'll need during that week after my surgery. I'm getting ahead on my graduate work, so I won't be stressed that week. Thank goodness that 2nd graders keep my mind occupied!

I did have a slight scare a couple of weeks ago. Dr. Carter's office called me at school, and I was so worried that something was wrong. They just had to move my surgery location from MCA to Surgical Center of Arlington due to contract agreements or something like that. Whew...I was okay with that. Same time, same date...different venue.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
